Bluewater Broadcasting is at the top of their game....

Rick, you can see there are a few that are most likely disgruntled ex-employee's of Bluewater, and yea their hiding behind their little screen names, and as you put it, sniping at you, but unlike YOU they lack the intelligence to accomplish the ability to own or for that fact operate radio facility's,
and they call YOU Paranoid...? Perhaps their really pissed because you have it and they don't.

I can explain it this way, the few that are sniping at you remind me of the tiny little fish that swim around inside the mouth of a shark picking and pulling at the tiny little bit's and pieces of debris in between the shark's teeth only later to be swallowed whole, ground up into little iddy-biddy piece's part's, and yes, deposited out the backside, thus summing up their personal but unfortunate experience's in radio, which seems to speak volume's about their own personal achievements......
 
To those people that think they know radio, better than sflaboy, then by all means get yourself some money and pursue a radio station of your own. 

One catch though, make sure that you cater to something that doesn't already exist in The Gump and/or this area of Alabama. 

I did enjoy my stint with the radio station I announced on, in the late 90s. 

Wanted to get back into terrestrial radio, once that job ended but I'm being lead to do some different.

At this time, I have no plans and/or desire to return to terrestrial radio broadcasting. 

I want to concentrate on establishing my very own Internet station and have it going within the next year.

Besides I know what all was involved in running a 250 watt translator rebroadcast of AFR from Tupelo.  The man that gave me my first stint, explained everything that was involved with the daily operations of this small station.  That's why I no longer want any part of a terrestrial radio station.  The headaches and troubles that man experienced was no fun at all.  He had to spend his own money, most of the time, just to keep me and the station on the air.  Also he had to always bug the AFR tech guys, when some issue would come up and he couldn't fix it on his own. (Examples include: The broadcasting equipment going through various troubles, issues with the satellite and/or computer and/or the transmitter catching on fire.)

I know I'm talking above your heads Mr. and/or Mrs. know it all's but ponder on what I'm saying and think about the issues Mr. sflaboy and/or any other radio professional has to deal with, when it comes to running many radio stations.

If there are many issues with running one station, just imagine the issues involved with running at least 5 to 6 stations.

Whew I said a mouthful.

R.D.P. you have said a mouth full, your right and rightfully so. If you are unfortunate enough to just happen to be a single owner of a single radio station, you might as well call it your second wife, cause, your married to it. Every time YOUR station need's her hair or nail's done, it's out of YOUR pocket, so high maintenance, being the phrase, is something one need's to take a closer look at when deciding to buy into the idea of marrying into YOUR very own radio station.

Every time YOUR little "sweetie" need's alittle something you know she's got you over a barrel and YOU have to give in, there's no away around it, and when you do it's gonna cost, and cost YOU really "BIG".... Owning one or the idea of owning more then one is well, to me, out of the question.. So in short when some bad mouth owner's of radio station's with their own ideas of dos and don't, maybe they should marry into one, take her out for a test drive, and then and only then let us know how your personal radio station marriage worked out......
 
In 2000, the man that gave me my start, gave up the job.  It was a big burden on him anyway.  Two other local guys came in and helped run that station.  I was still on there, doing my speaking thing.  In 2003, AFR upped the power and relocated this station.  Once they did that, my stint came an end.  Sadly the high ups from Tupelo, didn't even bother to tell myself and the overseers, that our services were no longer needed. 

That first man has since passed on, due to health issues.  This fellow helped bring AFR to Selma anyway and what the high ups did to him was very dirty and inexcusable anyway.  He didn't get much help from AFR, when things would break down.  He was basically left to fend for himself.

I liked the stint but what I saw behind the scenes, didn't impress me at all.  So sad that AFR didn't and still doesn't care for their station here.  This station still has the same choppy sound and issues with the satellite going offline from time to time. 

This station had a few listeners when I was there.  Since they moved from here, those old listeners have flocked over to Moody Radio South for their Inspirational needs. (WMBV 91.9 FM and WRNF 89.5 FM)  I'm not even sure if AFR's Selma area station still has anyone listening to and/or supporting it.  I no longer support and/or listen to this station.  I'm very disgusted with them anyway.  The way they conduct themselves continues to tick me off.

Their current presentation is very boring indeed.  Their sound quality still sucks.  The AFR people still don't seem to care about this station at all.  Wish they would dump this station and/or shut it down.  It's just a waste of dial space now.

P.S. Hope you know it all's will take notes and learn from this great example about running and operating a radio station.  Sounds like fun doesn't it?  Hope this will show you once and for all that running a radio station isn't as easy as it seems.

P.S. Now for those that think they know it all, I might can help you get into the radio business.  Check with these web sites www.afa.net or www.afr.net and see if they need an overseer for WAQU 91.1 FM here in my area.  Their COL is Selma but their tower is located near Uniontown. Last I heard, a few months ago, they were looking for an overseer to help maintain this station.  The job doesn't require much.  All you have to do is make sure the station stays on the air, the broadcasting equipment is in tip top shape, help raise the money needed to stay on, keep the satellite pointed correctly, so you can drag in the programming from Tupleo and fend for self, when the station is experiencing tech issues.  The job will be a thankless one but at least you'll get the learn the in's and out's of radio broadcasting.  If you think you can handle such a responsibility, then check with the wonderful people (NOT!) at AFR in Tupelo and see if they can use you.  Once you get involved with this job, then you'll see first hand that running a radio station is hard work indeed.
 
Sounds like AFR is basically looking for free labor. I've worked for Moody and EMF, and they never asked me to work for free.

Um.. just here to say that The Gump rocks, was a great idea, love it. We still listen almost exclusively to Q96 in the car/van and on our Bose 3-2-1 for house cleaning music and entertainment. Wasn't this a pro-Bluewater thread, anyway? Why all the hate on sflaboy? He is the only one really trying to do something in the market that (a) pleases listeners and (b) makes money. What's wrong with that?
 
Ditto what R. D. P. says. I know it's not real original on my part to copy him, but at least RICK is trying not to copy all the big boys! Keep rolling sir. And yeah, the people that have nothing better to do than pick trivial topics and inflame them, need to know they look REALLY, uh, little on here.
