being a former employee-- let me ask a question:

greg budel on alice.... very good- WHY CAN'T HE TALK MORE?

i hear he worked in miami ( OR SOMETHING ) -- i can tell he is a seasoned pro-- YOU SHOULD USE THIS GUY MORE---

i can see if you have a newcomer to radio --- and u dont want them screwing around-- but THIS GUY??? HE'S GOOD??

SO WHAT GIVES??

john garrett

>thanks..I agree he is good....he did come to us from Miami and has a very impressive resume- including WLS in Chicago... he talks as much as he feels he needs to...maybe he's adopting the CC "less is more" philosiphy.... if you want to hear him talk more, catch him every afternoon on 1170 WACV.

Skipper,

Listing to Greg...

Isn't that considered traitorous or something by CU? You know, they could be reading all this Skipper!!! People have been fired for what they post on boards and blogs before - especially by those grumpy big corporations.

Hey John, if you listen to Greg, then you'll hear that he's free to jump in between spots, before liners, after commericals, whenever he wants. Greg is an example of being "better than the format" - and he's not "paid by the word", so he talks as much as he thinks is benificial. Wish they had 10 of them instead of 1.

I don't think our folks are that shallow. I have the right to post or say what I want..it's a free country... I think listening to other stations is as much a part of the job as being on the air... you should always know what other stations are doing.

well then he ( GREG ) is not as good as i thought. i figured he was being held back ( as happens often in radio)

i just don't understand how companies plunk down all tat money and run stations like it's 1979.--

PEOPLE WILL FIND SAT./ RADIO ( JUST LIKE THEY FOUND CABLE, IPODS ETC. ) FOR RADIO TO REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS FACT ASTOUNDS ME. RADIO OWNERS ARE LIKE A BUNCH OF OSTRICH'S WITH THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND.

HOW CAN YOU EXPECT THINGS NOT TO CANGE? HIRE GOOD JOX. LOSE YOUR RESEARCH BUDGET AND AUDITORIUM TESTS AND CALLOUTS-- AND USE YOUR HEAD!

PLAY THE HITS-- AND LET THE JOX DO A SHOW-- AT LEAST IN DRIVETIME.

I RECALL ( OR SO I HAVE HEARD TAPES ) THAT BACK IN THE 60'S ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS SAY THE CALL LETTERS AND SAY " HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE'S THE FAB FOUR!!!

AND YOU WERE GOLDEN--- THINGS EVEOLVE-- RADIO IS NOT---

THIS IS NOTHING PERSONAL-- IT'S NOT ABOUT ME-- SO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BASH JOHN GARRETT IS MISSING THE POINT.

I WOULD LIKE SOME THOUGHTS FROM TERRY AND RICK -- I KNOW CUMULUS'AND CC'S ANSWERS---

THE REASON I WANT ANSWERS IS BECAUSE YOU ALL ARE THE ONLY INDEPENDENTLY OWNED STATIONS IN MONTGOMERY-- YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE--

THANKS==

John,

anyone who worked for years at a corporate station only to leave to start their own independent station will always operate like a corporate station because of the corporate brainwashing.

i am not saying this to offend terry, i do believe he is running 4 of the best stations in town.

John makes a good point about the evolution of radio. It so slow to evolve, unlike other entertainment mediums. Think about it. That's why jocks walk around with chips on their shoulder, because they're frustrated.

Hey Skipper.... play me a little "Take Me To The Pilot" on your live at lunch feature. Thanks.

And btw...get that EAS system checked....everybody in your building ran the test this morning except you...uncle Charlie may get you on that one.

Hey, I listen to all of the stations in town. Why not- I've worked at all of them now :)

Is that the "Take me to the Pilot" from Elton John that's the B side to "Your Song" on 45? Wasn't that in your record collection at home? It's a fact that old jocks listen to all stations, not just their own. Can't just taste the same flavor all the time.

I believe that was your record collection that I may have borrowed it from...remember that cool little boom box thing you had with the record player that fold down from the inside... mine was more like Bad Company and The Knack.
