After reading all of the “blunders” we realize why ENC radio has lost its uniqueness, and we are reminded of the poor decisions by all of the groups, but the group that stands out the most has got to be Archway.
More bad decisions made awhile back are showing up in the trends, suggesting Hot is headed for a big drop putting them a couple of points behind BOB and if that ain’t enough, they’re being spanked by WNBB Country Gold.
EAGLE is all but dead and anxiously waiting for the mouth-to-mouth thing from JACK-FM.
The New Lite FM is not worth commenting on.
Here are a few of those decisions that have put them in a box.
· Not finding Styx the right sidekick
· Not protecting Styx
· Big generation (20 years) gap and no connection between the new morning show team on EAGLE
· Hot music selection and rotation
· Eagle music rotation too tight
· Too many promotions on both stations
· Voice tracking in midday thru nights on both stations, worse on EAGLE (one exception- Gina Gray)
· Hot morning show content decisions and show direction
· No attention to the satellite feed mechanics, when it screws up it sounds bad and incompetent
· Little or no response to reoccurring automation system matters making the stations sound sloppy at times
· Too few commercial voices
· Still plagued with technical issues
· Selling WWNF
· Flipping the weak-signaled 98.3 to an in-office listening format
· Delivering the broadcast signal of all 3 stations thru telephone lines
One thing for sure that will have to happen if success is the goal regardless if Archway sells or not…..new STL …..new formats ….new faces….. and ……a lot more money!
