BMP buying KLOL

An executive of Border Media Partners indicates they are preparing to announce a purchase of KLOL. Can anyone confirm?

David E would know! Did anyone notice that Xo has changed it's dj line up seems they want to pick up the am drive and pm drive. Its gona be interesting to see how KAMA can step up there game to compete with the soon to be DIGITAL.

Mhh, I would have assumed that Clear Channel would sell both stations to the same owner. It sounds a bit weird that they would sell the stations individually. But if BMP does get their hands on both KHMX and KLOL, Univision will probably get some real competition since BMP will have the advantage of having two local, full power stations. We also have to remember that BMP also does english programming (Jack FM and News Talk in San Antonio and McAllen and Jammin in San Antonio)

I assume if BMP gets KHMX they would program it like KTSA-FM in SA??? Which might work here??

This be a bit off subject, but this is how NOT to program a website. http://www.ktfm.com/

My understanding is that the KTFM website is in the works. BMP is in the process of rolling out it's new website for all SA stations. KTSA will be the first to be role out. The timeframe is within two weeks but don't hold me to that. That's just what I've heard.

I know some people dislike the Rhythmic AC format but KTFM is different from the Movin format across the country. KTFM playlist consist of Freestyle, Dance, Booty Bass, Old School from 80's & 90's mix in with current artist such as Chris Brown, Britney, Rihanna and Leona Lewis. Best time to tune to KTFM is weeknights from 7-12 as the playlist is much broader.

Too bad Univision isn't buying KLOL, they could have flipped it to active rock like 97.7 in SA.

They probably own enough stations here though.

With all that is going on in the stock and financial markets, it's hard to believe that Goldman Sachs wants to plow more money into BMP to pay for KLOL. Though, if the price for KLOL is down, I guess it's certainly possible.

Trust me, active Rock would have been one of their last choices if they were to buy KLOL (even though they can't right now). Rock 97-7 is an exemption. The intention of KLTO is to bring KISS-FM down from the top in San Antonio. Last I checked, KLTO was still Commercial-free (don't know if that is the case anymore) just so they can take as many of KISS's listeners. KLTO's playlist is almost identical to KISS's.

KLTO is playing some commercials now, If KLOL was bought by BMP they would more than likely cut off the HD signal.

Since the new CC owners also own part of Univision (and Cumulus), they couldn't purchase it even if they wanted to.... That's why CC is being forced to sell their stations in the first place.

Can someone post an oficial website or link to see that BMP is really purchasing KLOL. And I have a question, will Clear Channel move The Mega format to another station? Maybe 94.5 the buzz?????

This is all rumor. When Clear makes a press release, we will all know who the buyer is.

As to the format, per the DOJ, and as others with more "legal minds" than I have said, it goes with the station.

Of course, the new owners would be free to change the format to whatever they want.
