BMX-II Mix-minus

Hi there--

We were just given a PR&E BMX-II 14 (by the wonderful folks at CBS Chicago). I'm going to be using it as our main studio console, but I'm not sure of the best way to go about creating a mix minus for our hybrid. There's a Line module that has "modified for telco" written on the side, which appears to send the telco output to the utility buss (and seems to have other modifications, although I'm not sure what they do).

We also have the Mono/Telco module, but I'm not really sure what that does either.

I'm hoping this will make a little bit of sense to someone who has worked closely with a BMX-II. If it does, please let me know if there's some standard way of creating a mix-minus on this console, or if I should just use some sort of mix-minus differential amplifier to remove the caller audio from the PGM output of the console.

Thanks for your time,
Shaun

Shawn, I believe there is a hidden bus in that console that you could configure and utilize to get a fixed mix minus. Try some of these numbers: Jeff at 760-936-4037 / Joey 760-936-4029 / Rich 760-936-4014 / Joe 760-936-4006

We have a BMX-III console in one of our talk studios. I don't know how similar it would be to the BMX-II.

Our console has a combination mono source-select/telco source-select/send-return control module. The telco portion of that module allows you to route one of the three program busses to the telco hybrid "send" input.

Using that module, it is easy to set up a mix-minus using any one of the three output busses. Again, don't know if this is like the BMX-II, but the concepts are probably similar. You might want to look at the rear apron of the console and see if there is a molex connector that is labeled "telco out", or something along those lines.
