Bo Diddley on HJY

Charles played him yesterday. It was a good instance where a format can be broken when there's a reason for it. I wonder, in spite of this being 2008 & radio being what it is, if HJY could run certain hours when the personalities play what they want. Maybe once per shift without warning the jock takes control & programs the music for an hour. It would be true to the station's spirit & given that HJY has a loyal audience, the unpredictability of it would actually be more of a draw than listener request hours. I mean, really, no one there is about to play something that hurts the station. Other than BRU, HJY is probably the only station in the market that could get away with this. Putting reality aside, any thoughts?

Does Paul and Al still play Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone again, Naturally on St Patty's day?

Speaking of driffting from the format on HJY. Jim Van pre-Clear Channel days on Sunday Mornings would do some sort of Lost 45's show. Not sure of the name of it but that song Chevy Van would get played.

FNX played Johnny Cash when he died. Frankly that Sunday morning racing rocks show drifts waay away from format on HJY. I like the show but the music although all rock is all over the place. It might even sound like HJY should sound on the weekend.

If this were to happen HJY would sound like a rock and roll jukebox during those hours, which would be a good thing.
Did Pete Silva have control over what he used to play on the Hangover Cafe? It wasn't the same music HJY played the rest of the day.
