Bo Mattingly

As of Monday, May 5th... SportsTalk With Bo Mattingly moves to its new home in NW Arkansas on ESPN 1190 and in the River Valley on ESPN 96.3 in a new time slot from 1-4 PM. He will also be adding 103.7 The Buzz to his roster of stations in the very near future replacing the syndicated Jim Rome Show.

I am glad that we are going to have him aboard in NW Arkansas. There are a lot of people that love him, a lot of people that hate him (he would probably tell you that himself...) but I will say that there aren't many people who put as much work as he does into his radio product.

This is a good change for sports radio in the state.

I wonder what KFAY will air during the time slot...

I recall that Mattingly used to have a show on 1190 during that same time slot (1-4) about 6 years ago that was pretty good...

Interesting...

KFAY's running the ARN show with Shawn (somebody) and Wally Hall.

It's good to see that Sports Rap with Shawn and Wally will be coming to NWA and to see something go head to head with Drive Time Sports.

What is the status of KFFK-AM 1390? I heard that they are switching from Spanish sports to Fox Sports. Did that happen?

"...It's good to see that Sports Rap with Shawn and Wally will be coming to NWA and to see something go head to head with Drive Time Sports..."

And the punch line would be..... Surely you're not serious about Wally?

I am not a huge fan of Shawn, but Wally is better than Rick "Sunshine" Schaeffer.

I know what you mean, how dare Rick have a positive attitude! You get the tar and I'll get the feathers. And Wally is to sports-journalism and talk what Smokey the Bear is to Oceanic exploration.

I am not Wally hugger, but he did get the truths about Nutt out there.

What is good to see is that a small state like Arkansas is so passionate about sports. As to the individual shows, I know too many people personally to be objective. Both Bo and Rick have helped me over the years and I consider both to be true professionals. Shawn Arnell is a unique talent and a man that I have been thru a few wars with and I would go to battle with him everyday and twice on Sunday. Wally Hall is a legend in the state and a man that loves radio and enjoys himself on the air. All three shows are different and that makes for great competition and nobody benefits more than the listener. All I can say is...can't wait for football....

Well, we thought about being passionate about our low standard of living, our deteriorating schools, our poor record of workplace safety, and our high level of infant mortality. But...nah.

I was in NWA last week and got a chance to listen to "The Sports Animals" on KFAY......

YIKES!!!!!!!

Awful show......

Should be called "Audio Torture"....

changes? eh? I hope they are good ones.

sports talk radio is hard to listen to in the summer time first off. Now I have said this more than once there are way too many sports shows for a state like Arkansas. Its awful to listen to in the summer when nothing is going on with da Hogs sure, but with hosts who aren't likeable and know what they are talking about in the first place make it harder.

see ya when football starts.

Well, coming August 1st to KFFK 1390 in Arkansas and soon to be other stations across the state will be Coach Larry Beightol (Coach Beck) and Godbee Show... They will be on the air 9am-1pm. This show sounds interesting because Coach Beck as everyone knows is an older old school guy and he is bringing on with him a younger co-host from Jacksonville, Florida for the new school approach to the show. This show will be guest intensive with their contacts from around the college football world and NFL with some surprises mixed in and caller friendly.

Here is a little info on Jason Godbee since he is new to the area because everyone in the area since he has come back to Arkansas knows Coach Larry Beightol, but for those who dont here is Coach's bio as well.

Beightol's distinguished coaching career began in 1968 at the College of William and Mary, where he served as offensive line coach until 1971. From there, Beightol moved on to coach at North Carolina State, Auburn, the University of Arkansas wth Lou Holtz, the University of Missouri, and Louisiana Tech (where he spent the 1979 season as head coach). In 1985, Beightol began his NFL coaching career, where he led the offensive lines for the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets, Houston Oilers, and Miami Dolphins before joining the Green Bay Packers as offensive line coach in 1999 under Head Coach Ray Rhodes. When Mike Sherman became the Packers coach in 2000, Beightol was one of the few assistant coaches he retained from the previous coaching regime. He retired from coaching in the NFL after coaching with the Detroit Lions in 2007.

Godbee comes from 1010XL in Jacksonville, Florida where he, Ryan Green and former NFL Linebacker Tom McManus who played with the Jacksonville Jaguars had the number one arbitron rated sports talk show in the city. Godbee also coached Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and a 2nd round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves.

Don't write run-on sentences they are hard to read.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Who's syndicating the new show? In that time slot, it's hard to beat "The Herd" from ESPN...

Now, what happened to the "Big Pig" or whatever they called themselves on 1380? I've been listening at 5-6 p and they're back to ESPN again. Is the show earlier in the afternoon, or are they simply gone again?

First off I do like Wally Hall but, I sort of agree that show has gone down hill since Houston Dale left. Its basically what I call "grab a**" radio, they talk too much life/personal crap, take few calls and the ones they do are the same four of five people, promise (tease) to talk about something and come back and not talk about it! and cutting off good razorback calls with a commercial with that horrible bumper music! I wish someone would tell Arnell or Russ whoever runs that show to change that awful intro music!!! That glam/hair rock doesn't cut it! I laugh sometimes when the recruiting guy Davenport comes on to talk serious recruiting and Arnell tries to joke or bs with Davenport and he is having none of it. I hope that show gets better or I will probably listen to Bo and his crew from now on since there is no other choice in western ark.
