BO Thompson back to WBT

Announced by Keith Larson this morning at the end of his show:

Charlotte, NC (March 5, 2012): Greater Media, Inc. announces Bo Thompson has been named as the new co-host of Charlotte's Morning News. He will join co-host Stacey Simms on the air Monday, March 19th, 2012.

"Bo is a great fit for Charlotte's Morning News," said Carl East, Program Director for News/Talk 1110 WBT. "He worked with us years ago in many capacities, left to get his on-air chops and now he's back, with a link to our past joining us in our journey into the future."

"I began my radio career at WBT 22 years ago, and this is my home," said Thompson. "I always knew I'd be back one day. It's an honor to carry on the torch from Al Gardner. Many of my radio idols have held this job. I can't wait to be a part of CMN's next chapter."

So where is Bo? I'm still hearing Szoke each morning. Is Bo working out his two week notice at FOX 18?
Maybe I'm missing it, but I'm not hearing anything promo wise on WBT about when Bo actually starts in AM drive.

i know sometimes us old farts like to live in the past, but i do wish they'd call rose limo.

i don't know the story of why H.A. Thompson got out of radio and into the limo business, but i sure do think he could pull good numbers on BT. maybe he's not interested, who knows. but stranger things have happened.

Thanks, wncc. This is a big step up for Bo, he must be pinching himself. I don't know Bo, but had occasion to ask of favor of him several years ago, when he was a producer at WBT, and he couldn't have been more helpful.

As much as I hate to say it . . .

WBT brought H. A. back in the mid-90's as a fill-in and to host a Saturday show when Tar Heel sports wasn't on. It was painful. He refused to use a call screener and took a live live call which threw him in the middle of an abortion debate. H. A. can do all the Carolina Boat Shows and Sonny's Real Pit Barbecue spots he wants but as a radio host, it's gone. As a Charlotte native and someone who grew up with the like of H. A., Henry, Russell & Flynn, Rockin Ray and everyone else, it's time to let go.

Now, if we could only convince someone that Stacey Simms sounds like an idiot and Chuck Roads is a useless caffine addict who's reports are pointless and his actualities from Carolina Schoold of Broadcasting interns are a waste of time.

i was unaware of that. thank you. i guess i was living in the past. "park 'n' shop time" and all that.

funny thing is back then i couldn't be bothered with bt. i was big ways or nothing. yet it must have rubbed off on me, because i remember an awful lot about what went on at 1 julian price place.
