Board talk lagging.........needs to be jumpstarted

The SF board has been so uneventfull the last two months. :( We desparately need somethign major  to happen so as to jump start the good talk. I guess all good things come with patience.

The problem (if you want to call it a problem) is that there are long periods when there are no changes in Bay Area radio. Of course, when things do change, we get all POed that 'Johhny Jock' or 'Format X' didn't get enough time to grow and find an audience.

If you ask me (OK, nobody asked me but I'm going to say it anyway), the Bay Area needs a new Classic Hits station just so people on this board can debate its merits, complain about how bad it is, then trash the corporate owners when its dumped a year later.

If you'll note - people on the LA Board can't stop talking about K-Earth, and it's been around for close to 40 years.

And you know me... I'll start the "Q" rumor to get things hopping or mention Bobby Ocean or JMF. KFRC is always a good one for people to chime in on. Or I can make up a story completely untrue just to get people fired up.

But right now I am wrapped up in this Jay Leno back stabbing Conan O'Brien to get the Tonight Show back. So I am spending time on the National Television Board.

No one is saying it now, But I believe Jay Leno is behind all of this. His 10pm was tanking and he simply called the powers that be and got this thing rolling. (I'll save the rest of my rant for the TV Board)

If you want to see a lackluster board, check out either Sacramento or the California TV Board!!! Phew

I think it has been a few weeks now since we've had the usual discussion that some hybrid of an oldies station specializing in one genre or another, is the lacking in the spectrum. Then there is the annual attempt to revive John Mac Flannigan's career and Ben Fong-Torres trying to inject a little history into a radio column in the Pink. Could it be we've tired of those items?

That's funny. I remember saying something very similar in the Phoenix section about a month or two ago. Now, .......well, I'm smelling an eminent cause for some heavier board talk action... sometime within the next few months. Well, actually I'm not too sure. Maybe a bunch of very small tweaks in certain stations will prevent one huge big shocker format flip from occurring here in Phoenix... but if we get another rhythmic or top 40, then things will REALLY get interesting between the point in which that happens (if it should) and the day another one finally falls to its demise.
