Bob and Michelle on WULM expand morning drive

Was listening online before heading off to work and breifly heard that Bob Roberts has finally expanded his morning show with Michelle Phillips(being the proverbial straight guy to Bob)from 6 to 10am where it should be. Previously it was cut short by Eli William's "Crossing Over" talker at 8:30. Don't know whether it was cancelled or was moved up to 10am. Either way you have to give this still relatively new station some long overdue credit..WULM remains true to serving its city of license when the others moved to Dayton while at the same time has filled a void when WCLR-FM switched to 80s and "Real Oldies" WSAI and WCOL switched to Air America liberal talk. Right now they're offering a $3 per 60 second commerical limited offer to entice much needed new sponsors. My hope is that they will eventually bring on additional jocks and some new jingles(which reflect their oldies format)...and give Clear Channel a run for its glory as it says in scripture "the humbled will be exhaulted and the exhaulted will be humbled." Bob and Michelle both work their butts off to keep WULM going up against the local corporate radio golliaths and my prayers go with them along with Eli and the rest of the WULM family.

The first time I heard this station was back in the summer of ’67 as WBLY in the parking lot of my mother’s OBGYN in Richmond IN. It was a Swallens commercial--“Swallens where underselling is our name” followed by “Windy” by the Association. ‘Fall 04 I was traveling through on I-70 ‘n caught their “Rockin’ Soul” format trapped on the “night power” on a Sunday afternoon. 'Guess nobody was in the house to watch the ATS…but I LOVED the format (for about 30 minutes)! God, I’m glad these AMs are still out there...Makes life interesting...and enjoyable.

Unfortunately, that station is still a joke. Ever since the ownership/call letter change they have not been taken seriously. They eliminated most of their staff and dropped local news/sports. I try to tune in every once in a while, but they have dead air and songs repeating/skipping.... it's embarrassing.

And yet in spite of that, they have one of the best oldies' playlists you can find, anywhere in the Midwest. And listening to this station (I'm in Columbus) with its apparently half-broken transmitter is worth the effort. I hate to say this, but to date the station's playlist is putting "Oldies 1160" in Cincinnati to shame.

I totally disagree with you in regard to WDJO 1160 and their playlist. I started listening to them when they first went on the air. And yes I agree that their playlist was somewhat limited in the beginning. But I have noticed a considerable change since their DJ's have come on scene. It seems that their playlist has doubled in size. If you listen I think you'll agree with me. This station is great.....I'm glad they brought the oldies back.....they are a true OLDIES STATION and now they have the playlist to prove it!

I listen every day, believe me! And I took time off work to listen at 2:15P the day they went live, so I'm definitely a fan. And I'll continue to listen every day, whenever possible. I agree with you to a point about their playlist; it makes WGRR (and in Columbus, WODB) look silly. But what they've played to date reflects a playlist that still doesn't compare to the 2600 song playlist at WULM.

Morgann1 you are just the type of listener WDJO is appealing to,and I think there are a lot more listeners who agree with you and thats all that counts.WDJO will only do well with a 100,000+ listeners like you supporting them.
