I'm a little late on this, but the new Steve Shannon Morning Show (co-hosted with Dee Dee Morgan) took over the morning slot at Star 99.1 WAHR Huntsville on the 18th. The story was posted in the News section of radio-info, but whoever wrote it said it was in Birmingham. ::) Has anyone listened to it yet? I haven't had the chance, but I intend to the next chance I get. I generally prefer local shows (when they don't totally suck like some here do) and Steve is a morning show veteran so this could actually be a really good thing. It's gotta be better than Bob and Sheri were.
 
Is Steve Shannon syndicating this to WAHR or is he doing the show from there?

After he split with former partner DC in St. Louis (DC didn't like the fact he finally came out of the closet, I guess) the revamped DC & The Family show struggled while Steve went on to mornings in Birmingham at talker WERC. I thought I heard he'd been let go or quit 'ERC but don't know for sure.
 
Nope he's doing it live from Huntsville. Not too bad so far either. I've only gotten to listen for about 30 minutes but so far from what I've heard its been better & more entertaining than Mojo or lite 96.9 local show. This will be good for Star.

I went back and doubled checked what I've been told by sources I generally trust and I think I have the story right. If something I said was inaccurate, I don't mind being corrected. Unlike most people on the internet I'm not here to be Mr Know It All, I'm just as happy to learn.

And for the record I've been a fan of Steve Shannon when he was part of Steve & DC and what little I heard of him on WERC. So I dunno what's crass about my comments. ???
 
It didn't seem too crass to me. I haven't heard the show. I will have to check it out. I am happy for Dee Dee. I don't think she ever wanted to leave the morning slot. Bob and Sheri were like a giant anchor dragging the 'ole ship down to the bottom of the sea. Now that a decent morning team is in place there is a good chance that Star will see better days in the future. I worked with those guys for over 8 years. They really work very hard.
 
I have to agree Brian. I can't see this move doing anything else but helping Star 99.1. They need to do some advertising about the new show though. Some billboards or TV spots. I knew if they ever went back to local mornings Dee Dee would want to be in on it. I think her heart has always been in the morning slot so congrats to her as well!

Zach, Don't stress the haters. You've said nothing wrong here and you never do. I always enjoy reading your comments and discussions. Keep doing what you do!
 
Good for Dee Dee and good for Star 99! Bob & Sherri were pretty bad, maybe good in some markets, but just not good fit here. As for the change, you guys are right, it has not been promoted at all. I'd like to see it be a hit. I liked Dee Dee since The Chris & Dee Dee Show in WZYP back in the 90's.
