BOB AND TOM LEAVING

Lots of PSAs in morning drive on QWK Rock. Despite good numbers, they haven't been able to sell Bob and Tom. Maybe they'll put their blabbering afternoon guy on in the morning. I can see it now - former morning show stunt-boy/sidekick becomes a morning host.

Bob and Tom just doesn't cut it in Happy Valley. Of course they were a million times funnier when they were just another morning show in Indy and all of their listeners "got" the inside jokes. Syndicating them just neutered the show.

Even as blande as they had become they were the best thing in morning radio in this market by a mile. Oh well, back to the satellite for me.

What's wrong with Jerry?

If they did go to Jerry it would probably be their safest bet seeing that he's the most popular jock on the station. I assume they will find another syndicated program to fill the spot.

I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

I think Jerry is great. He's not the "announcer" type...he is just himself. He would be a P1 if he didn't work for the station and the target demo takes to him...yeah, he may have occasionaly said something that added me a little more grey hair, but it is an Active Rock station, so that's to be expected :)

That station, as a whole, sounds good and I think a local AM Show is just what the station needs!!

Probably will try to find another syndicated morning show. Since that would be a mistake, I expect them to do it. I'm surprised they haven't changed it to "Rocky 103" and begun a simulcast of the Johnstown, Altoona, and State College stations.

Let me get this straight.you think it is a mistake to use one of their best jocks AND a mistake to go with syndication. If you are hoping for the job Spackler just go ahead and ask for it. It seems like thats the only way you will be happy

Checking the last book, A18-34, M18-34, W18-34, Bob and Tom destroyed everybody else. They still can't sell it. What more do they want? They could plug in another syndicated show and get what they already have - maybe.

A local show might not get the numbers that Bob and Tom does, but if they can sell a local morning show that plays some music, they probably wouldn't care.

Somebody said Valeri was one of their best jocks, but it wasn't me. I don't find him funny or entertaining, just annoying.

When GMR had Bob And Tom the numbers were strong as well. The problem is that the even the though the listners loved the show the advertisiors would not buy because of the offensive nature of the show. Even after the Janet Jackson incident and they toned down the show was still considered too offensive. So GMR's only choice between the rising cost of the show and the no sales for it was to drop it. I would love to be a fly on the wall at QWK Rock the day it goes off the air. We got calls from listners who threatened everything from legal action to burning the building down. Whatever they decide it will have to be easier to sell than Bob And Tom

Though neutered Bob & Tom are very, shall we say, metropolitan in their presentation. The station will do what all stations do these days, whatever is best for the bottom line tomorrow morning. The future will take care of itself.

To be brutally honest, if they aren't synidcating they should look outside the market for fresh talent.

My guess would be that Bob and Tom are too expensive given Forever's swiftly deteriorating top line. It is not that the programming can't be sold. Horrible mismanagement of the sales effort with ruinous firings of (3), wait(4?) managers over three months with no plan in place to replace them by out-of-touch, out-of-control upper powers has distorted the picture.
Bob and Tom will go the way of other programming as Forever counts it's pennies while dollars flow elsewhere.

So they jettison B&T for local programming. Interesting. Competition for Jeff Brown, and Steve Jones, and Kevin Nelson, and..... who will sell it. It all comes down to sales and Not-Forever doesn't have the staff to do it. But it gives the partners something to think about while B-Deck takes on more water.

THE NEW WORD ON THE STREET IS THAT FOREVER IS DEFINITELY STAYING IN HOUSE FOR MORNINGS. I DON'T HAVE A NAME THOUGH. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING?

Bob and Tom...So what. Couple of guys that made it big and want to sell you something that won't last. That is why their GONE! They aren't local and listeners are not stupid.

I'm holding a Spring 2006 book. B&T dominate mornings in the 18-34 demo, the stations target and are tied with WBUS for third place behind Froggy and 3WZ in 12+. Listeners get it and like it - the sales staff and advertisers don't.

Local will be the dominating factor of longetivity. It is you that don't get it....

Well if B&T is leaving the only choice for a great morning show team would be Chris and Jim. Because we all know there isn't must talent inside forever so they are going hire the beat local morning team that hasn't been raped by forever management.

Yeah, NO

Not a classic rock station in the country that targets 18 -34. Maybe years and years ago.

Bob and Tom - not local.

Cant blame sales side, if you believe in it and can sell it you do. When we had B&T most agency buyers had it on the avails NO B&T as well as Stern and others. You also sound uninformed on the cost of the show and practices of CC in syndicating the show.
