The Bob and Tom Radio Show moving to Cumulus Nashville in January

The Nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show currently heard on 102.9 WBUZ in Nashville, TN will be moving to a Cumulus Nashville station on January 1st, 2007! “Bob and Tom will be a great addition to our Nashville cluster as we continue to position ourselves as the best run radio company in America” said John Dickey Executive Vice President of Cumulus Broadcasting.

The Bob and Tom show in Nashville over the last year has been ranked #2 with men 25-54 consistently and #7 in the market with Adults 25-54 according to the Aribitron Radio Ratings Service. Cumulus Nashville has several options as it considers which station will carry The Bob and Tom Show. Cumulus Broadcasting owns and operates 345 radio stations across the country.

Apparently, you've never heard Lex and Terry, who make Bob and Tom sound like a children's show next to them.

I've also noticed on the BUZZ 102.9 billboards the term "Free Beer and Hot Wings" along with the artists they play. There was a morning team in Knoxville that called themselves that. I wonder if that phrase has anything to do with them?

If I had to hazard a guess, considering the demo, I'd say they will replace Coyote & Cathy.

I think Bob and Tom's flagship station in Indianapolis is a classic rock station. I assume that they are on the same station they were on a few years ago in Indianapolis and it is still classic rock.

I think WRQQ is the only place they would go unless there is a format change at 95.5 or 99.7. I don't think 106.7 is in the mix even with their power increase.

There's a team that goes by that name in Jersey. I think their station was sold to Greater Media and is flipping to smooth jazz. Perhaps they're headed south?

Bob & Tom might go to 97.1 if Coyote 'retires' (one way or another) in January, but I have heard
nothing concrete on that. Longshot at best that they'd trash Coyote, with Steve there. Then
again, it is radio and it is 2006. Never mind. Plausible.

I would say the chances of 106.7 going Rock are pretty darn strong with the power increase. No matter what Cumulus does, they aren't crazy enough to think a power increase will drive the numbers up to WGFX. Lost cause, not enough $$$ for the trouble. Easier to blow away the Buzz and it IS Dickert the king of rock'n'roll in
Nashville. What type of rock? Dunno. Lots of ways to slice that pie, but I'd have to think it would be
similar to 96.5 The Mountain in Chattanooga. Numbers, though, would they show? I think so.

Hint: If you hear Christmas music sooner than you thought, you'll have your answer....(just again, a guess.)

The chances of 95.5 flipping from Country or 99.7 getting away from talk are zero. They just signed
Dave Ramsey to three more years. A lot longer than they are committed to ESPN. Ha! Chances
of WKDF going Rock ;D is 100 times better than 95.5/99.7 flipping. Had to throw that one in.

Seriously, if you were Cromwell, how would you handle this? You don't wanna loose your market
in the morning, but you can't let 'em just rip them out from under you while promoting and
programming them up til Dec. 31. Then again, regardless, the Bob & Tom Billboards will stay
up with the Buzz logo on them for at least 5 years after they move...<I think I am serious
about that, too.

I don't know if 106.7 wants to try a second attempt at rock. Rooster was one of their revolving one-year formats. Lex & Terry did not help Rooster 106.7. Mancow, Opie and others more abrasive than B&T likely would not play well in Nashville.

I can't tell the difference in 105.9, 96.3 Jack, Rockin' Hits 97.1 anymore. So a rock/nostalgic pop/oldies format for 106.7 may be oversaturation. Then again this is the same market with plenty of country stations.

Rick & Bubba could make their third run in Nashville. Or 102.9 might consider local talent mornings for a while. But who? Jake Wylde sounds good.

I was not suggesting that Lex and Terry were getting great numbers or that they were funny. I was refering to the posters post that Bob abd Tom were one of the filthiest and raunchy morning shows. Bob nad Tom are pretty tame compared to Lex and Terry. I don't like Lex and Terry at all. I heard them in Jacksonville a few years ago and they spent twenty minutes one morning talking about the length of their feces as it hit the toliet bowl.

I was NOT suggesting that 106.7 would try to be a Classic Rock/Jack/60's-70's format. Crumulus ain't gonna pick off themselves.
The old Rooster Real Rock format was to narrow and Lex & Terry were a male-skewed morning show, which makes numbers tough,
even on a good signal. Was it "Love Lines" or what that Rooster had on at night? Anyone remember?

I stated and I re-state a heavy-current and flashbacks to the 90's/80's format of rock like 96.5 The Mountain is the only format
that makes sense to me left available for a format based upon Bob & Tom that could not compete with the rest of the cluster.
Do it right, you force the Buzz off the air and take a potential 4-5 share with a 50kw good in-town signal.

They may just leave it Sports after B & T.

When this signal upgrade going to happen?

Rooster 106.7 had Adam Corrola and Dr. Drew's program at night. B&T replacing Mike & Mike on ESPN 106.7 could be a good idea, although ESPN corporate may have something to say about that. Cumulus went through litigation and lobbying to get the ESPN brand.

Yeah, they won the rights to use ESPN, and it wasn't a cheap battle, but did they ever looooooooseeeeeeee the
ratings war!

Thanks for the info on the night programming on Rooster. Seems like it lasted all of two months.

Look at the bright side, Courier, if you take all the formats 106.7 has been, take the flipped formats the other Crumulus
stations have ever been and then take the current formats of those stations...and you don't allow Crumulus to use
any of those formats...you get what they are best at...

A.) NOTHING
B.) DEAD AIR
C.) BOTH A & B
D.) NEITHER A, B or C, but another guaranteed disaster

How about a mix of all the former and current 106.7 formats? That would make sports talk about kissing blazin' roosters on this planet. Okay, that's a stretch. Polka has not been tried. Beautiful music on FM went away with the 98.7 sale to Bott. Dickert, are you reading this?
