Bob Bell Dies

L

loves radio 2

Former Channel 2 sports anchor and sports talk show host Bob Bell died early this morning from lung cancer. He lived about a year longer than his doctors thought he would.

Arrangements are pending.

Here's a note from Bob Bell's daugter:

Plans have been made to celebrate Dad's life at their church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church (on Hwy 25 in Cross Plains, TN) on Sunday afternoon. Visiting will be from 2-4, with a service to follow. Please pass this info along to anyone you know who might need it.

Thanks again for all your love, prayers, and support!!!

Katy Pat

As Bob Mueller said this evening, Bob was an old school sports guy who didn't use notes and kept his info in his house. He was Sports Director at Channel 2 from the mid 60s for more than 20 years then worked at various stations around Nashville since then.
A great guy and friend, he will be missed. RIP BOB BELL

I thought Bob was the best sportscaster in Middle Tennessee. Many in the business have HUGE egos. I never saw that in Bob. He was a down to earth country boy from Robertson County. We were friends for about 15 years and Im glad I got to know him. My only regret is not visiting him while he was fighting the good fight and not calling him enough.

As will be said a million more times by a million people... There was not a better guy in the business !!! Bob Bell was a professional every day I worked with him and a gentleman anytime I was in his presence. I had the honor to work with Bob for the Last Year of the Sports Scene on WLAC and even years later for him to record a few of his spots on the radio.

Nashville Media has lost a legend today... The World has lost a Great Man... Heaven has gained a Saint !

Amen.

Grew up watching and listening to Mr. Bell. Never knew him, but yeah, he carried himself like a true gentleman.

Truly a sad day for Nashville.

Thanks to WLAC's blowtorch signal, I used to listen to Mr. Bell in south Georgia. Obviously, I never met him but was quite the fan. RIP

I didn't know him well at all, only having met him briefly, but you can just tell class. He was a first-rate broadcaster, and as everyone is saying, was a great human being as well. I was a fan of his on-air work, and will miss him being a part of the Nashville airwaves. May he rest in peace.
