Bob Berry on WCBSFM

Hearing Berry has been a really pleasant surprise. When I first heard him, I thought Broadway was working overtime, and then I thought I thought it was Jay Sorensen for a bit, before I realized it was someone I had not heard before. He fits in perfectly with the station, and has a great amount of energy and on-air presence without sounding over-the-top. I hope to hear him more often.

Bob was most recently at Sunny 105.9 Orlando, CBS Radio's Classic Hits station.

Bob worked in the Detroit metro in the 1960s & 1970s at CKLW-AM Windsor, Ontario; WKNR-AM "Keener13" Dearborn, MI & WDRQ-FM Detroit, MI. As an aside, WCBS-FM's Pat St. John also worked in Detroit radio before arriving at WPLJ New York in 1973.

So this is Bob's return to the market after nearly 40 years? That's nice to know. What a homecoming!

It seems that the fill-ins these days are Dave Packer, Big Jay Sorensen, Steve O'Brien and now Bob Berry. Some months back Don Geronomo did a couple of shifts.

Granted, that was during a period where he was, more or less, biding time riding out the end of his previous contract, to which he was bound to work for either CBS stations, or markets in which a CBS station does not exist. He's currently doing talk radio once again in Sacramento, where he's recently signed a new deal.

Zach Martin has also done some shifts recently.

Did he use a different on air name during his Detroit days? I don't recall a "Bob Berry", though he sounds a bit like "Steve Rivers" who worked at both CKLW and WDRQ.

:) I never heard of him, he is filling in for Ron Parker who is on vacation. He sounds good!!

I've heard Ron Parker on Sirius/XM. Nothing impressive there.

I could be wrong, but I believe Mary was referring to Mr. Berry sounding good, not Ron Parker...

ron parker has a great voice, I missed him!!! to be in radio they all better have great voices LOL wonder if I could be in radio? I was told I have a good voice!!! :)
