Bob Brenly out as Cubs TV analyst

Rumor has it that he may be heading back to the Diamondbacks, replacing Mark Grace, but nothing confirmed yet. But he has left the Cubs; his contract expired at the end of the 2012 season.

I would not be shocked to see Grace come to Chicago.

Don't hold your breath. Grace is looking at several months of time - either in Maricopa County Jail/Tent City in Phoenix if he can plea-bargain his felony DUI charge down to a misdemeanor, or the state prison in Florence if he can't. And after that, he'll have to do one or more years probation/parole, which will prohibit him from leaving Arizona without the court's permission.

As a Cubs announcer, he'd be spending 6 months a year in places other than Arizona (except for one 3-day period when the Cubs come to Phoenix). No judge is going to allow that, especially with Grace's reputation as a drinker.

In other words, his chances of replacing Brenly are pretty much zero.

You were right about Mark Grace not replacing him, but it would have been interesting if he did. Through they might have if promised that he would be watched at all times. But some how he must have found a way out of jail time, since according to his wilpelda page that he is currently a Diamondbacks coach. But it is hard to say about how much time the Cubs could get scheduled to be in the Phoenix area on a year to year basis as they could be scheduled for anywhere for 2 to 4 games there.

Why are you resurrecting a 4-year-old thread? This issue is long closed. Grace has been a D'backs assistant hitting coach for several years now. He did his time -- 4 months in Tent City with work release, and 2 years probation -- in 2013, and finished his probation last year. Your post is completely moot.

Why do you have a problem with that, there is no rule that as far as I am aware of that you have a tie limit on replying to a post and then you can't reply.
