BOB BRINKER - DR. BILL WATTENBURG - BRINKER COULD GO ON AIR AMERICA

A

Hmm....Strange....Bill and Bob both live in Nevada but they are different politically and on energy policy. Brinker sides with mainstream Democrats on most issues, Dr. Bill is more conservative. Brinker, Bill, are both pro-nuclear. Brinker is pro- other alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, whereas Dr. Bill ridicules these sources on his programs. I'm not sure of their positions on ANWAR, but Brinker's other frequent energy guest Charlie Maxwell is against drilling there.

Brinker has hosted far left wing radical pro-alternative energy guests, that you might hear on Thom Hartmann's show, such as Dr. Richard Heinberg and Dr. James Howard Kuntsler. Brinker has hosted liberal Dr. Anya Kamentz as a guest to discuss liberal viewpoints on economics, along with Dr. Ravi Batra who is against free trade. And, former Al Gore speechwriter Daniel Pink.

Here's what I'm leading to. Although Bob teases Hillary and does have conservative guests, due to his exceptional talent of 30+ years in radio, and ability to get great guests, Bob Brinker is perfect candidate for the struggling Air America. Bob could do a weekday show to replace Rachel Maddow, if he sticks with bashing Republicans, talking about Oil, and only hosting liberal guests. Air America can go green with Bob Brinker!

My challenge to conservatives who don't listen to Air America for political reasons. IF you heard Brinker on that network criticizing Bush and Republicans, and interviewing Professors of Ecology like Richard Heinberg (first you might check out these more liberal ideas at http://richardheinberg.com, http://www.kunstler.com/), would you listen...because of the name recognition - i.e. it's the familiar voice of - yes indeed - Mr. Bob Brinker?!

Would you have other nominations for Air America? How about Dr. Dean Edell? How about Bill Handel?

[This was Dr. Bill's third appearance on Moneytalk. The first was January 6, 2007.]

Calling all Centrists who want to vote for a Democratic candidate.....but who also hate Air America......and who don't listen to Rush/Hannity/Levin/Savage because they are too mean and status quo and continuously attack Democratic candidates......who you want to VOTE for and LEARN THE TRUTH about........

Anyway I guess I need to run a focus group w/ my associates if nobody posts!

Anyway, no hurt feelings. Bob Brinker, however, might be waiting! lol

I think Wantenburger lives in Quincy/Susanville area of California...which is not too far from Nevada. I think he said his mountain home is shown in the "Pink Cadillac" a film by Clint Eastwood.

Yes he's mentioned Susanville 100's of times and Dr. Bill has mentioned spending a lot of time in Nevada over his life. And Dr. Bill must have an ISDN to the KGO studios. That is how he connects with Bob Brinker via the ABC sattelite. Does Brinker go down to KXNT to do his programs, or, does he have an ISDN? Perhaps Brinker also has a summer home in the northern country or mountains?

I don't know about Brinker..I know that Jerry Doyle, is out of his Vegas area house for the most part... I wonder if someone has a home studio if they need a business license and if it conflicts with zoning, homeowner's association rules??

Good question I don't know. I've always wondered where Brinker and Doyle live as they are both quite wealthy. Maybe Anthem, Summerlinn, or Lake Las Vegas. Ernie Brown used to live here, too, when he did America at Night (America Live?) with Ernie Brown on Jones, Ernie now does a local show in his home state of Texas.

Quite the dead horse about telling us how Bob Brinker is a liberal talk show host. Money topics on Air America? I thought those who had money were evil.

The weird thing was flipping thru the XM channels, and having Brinker on America's RIGHT. Yeah, right-wingers like money, but Brinker's politics obviously DON'T lean right......

Brinker's viewpoints are usually consistent with moderate Democrats. Since the Gulf War II (i.e. Iraq war) he has become an ardent critic of most of the Bush administration's policies - the Ports, the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, failure to implement a comprehensive Energy Program, and the Iraq War. He has even said several times..."Well, it turned out that there were no WMD's, so obviously we went to war over OIL." And, among other liberal guests, Bob has interviewed Oil analyst Prof. Richard Heinberg who lives in Sebastapool, California (http://richardheinberg.com), and is professor at the New College of California, where they offer degrees in organic farming, sustainability, and media/communication studies; the college is associated with Pacifica/Democracy Now.

Bob should be on same channel as oil/energy/economic analyst Thom Hartmann and they could substitute for each other.

I am constantly amazed to hear Bob Brinker in a major weekend slot on KKOB Albuquerque. The guy is consistently fiscally democratic, while the station is a hard right-wing corporate mouthpiece.

It is amazing. I appreciate your posts about Bob Brinker. Whenever I bring his name up on OTHER boards here (i.e. in the Stacy Taylor thread above), I am scorned for pointing out that Bob has viewpoints consistent with Democrats.

I don't think these posters ever listen to his program. I listen to all 6 hours, each and every weekend. That's not very hard, because I plan my activities around the show and do other things at the same time. And, I don't know that much about stocks, so I tune in and out, if the call is about stocks, I don't listen. If it's about the US Economy, US Energy Policy, and related Environmental Issues, then I tune in.

Citadel/ABC owns KKOB, and Bob Brinker is syndicated by ABC.

Bob's substitute, Bill Flannigan, attracts a lot of younger callers in their 20's asking about college savings and credit cards.
