Bob Cole

I think he will be back. I'm sure he is having to haggle with Clear Channel. If I know them, they are doing everything they can to keep him off the Austin airwaves for as long as possible.

Yea, but would they pay the money and he even want to at this point? If he flamed out, that's no way to leave radio.

They parted on good terms, if that is what you mean by 'flamed out.' On the other hand if you mean 'burned out,' the answer would be 'no.' Cole is a professional who loves radio. He will either get back in or go on to something else.

By good terms you mean CC paid him enough money to keep his mouth shut and pretend everything was mutually agreed on? Seeing all your work over the last 20 years suddenly flushed down the toilet and being kicked by the wayside it would be very difficult to leave on "good terms" unless their was a boatload on money to make it better.

I'm pretty sure mmnassour was referring to the possibility of Cole resurfacing at another station only to "flame out" there, not that he flamed out at KVET.

Absolutely Fred...thanks for making that clear. While I may not have always cared for KVET's morning program, there is no doubt that Cole is a class act who left the station in as a classy way as the circumstances would permit. I simply meant it would be, well, sad, if an Austin legend such as Cole ended his career at a second or third rate operation, with little management support and few listeners. It just wouldn't be right.

It seems to me that the only reason Bob hasn't turned up more often recently would have to be the CC non-compete that he signed. Plus taking a vacation after 20 years of getting up at 3:30 in the morning has to be nice...(right Fred? :)) When and if Bob comes back on the air in Austin, it won't be in the role of traditional DJ, after all that's what they tried to pigeonhole him into at KVET. He has too much knowledge of the area and ability to simply be relegated to reading a 2 minute segment between segments

what owners would to love to have cole as dj or pd of one of thier stations: emmis, bmp
kgsr has low ratings, bmp has stations that have low ratings.kxxs, kwnx, kznx, ktxx. i dont know if bob cole can buy out some or all bmp radio stations.

Saw the Facebook post myself...I can see him on absolutely any radio station in town, from KNLE all the way to the top of the English-language dial. Of course, some are more likely than others! ;D
