I worked for him from the summer of 1995 to June 30th, 1996 when Susquehanna took over the 95.7FM and 1550 AM frequencies. I did board work for NASCAR, NFL playoff games and filled in for the Polka Guy when he had an out of town gig. I had no contact with Bob but I understand there are numerous stories about his broadcasting endeavors. I'm sure he's quite controversial being in office and all, and I hope this doesn't become a "bash Bob" deal, I'm just wondering what he was like and the chronology of his broadcast career. When I was on hiatus from my marriage (the wife threw me out) I hung with a lady lawyer who was gung ho for his 1988 candidacy against Joe McDade. (He ran as a Dem and got hammered). How did he get from Congressional candidate to radio investor, then back to candidate again. Just wondering.

I am not a person to bash other people; but, this guy is very shrewd. A snake!!!

Yes, there is no reason that a person couldn't own a radio station or two; but, this guy has it made. Even, after losing a good tenant in Doug Lane (leasing WITK 1550); he still managed to sell it to Holy Family Communications in Buffalo, NY (the same people that own 750 AM in Olyphant) and still make a dime every month in leasing facilities at his law office for studios.

He does this for WQOR 750 too.

When WAAT was going down for the count. Bob Cordaro was there to save the day. Cordaro owns the tower site for 750 up in Archbald. When it came time to secure a lease with Cordaro for the tower site, Cordaro says... "Why don't you put your main studios in my office" and I will make a lot of money.

Now, he has done the same for WITK and will more than likely stay out of the radio game until the day comes when Holy Family either folds up and Cordaro is there to save the day once again and have two AM signals once again.

Nobody is here to "bash Bob" he has brought it all on himself. Facts are facts! As far as 1550 goes, THAT WAS THE ULTIMATE JOKE!!! Three years of lease payments from Lane (which more than paid for the station at least twice over) and then gets Holy Family Communications to buy basically a daytimer (10,000 watts day...500 night?) for $940,000??? I spoke to a few people involved with that deal and I tried to stop them but the high ups in Buffalo trust the guy because he gives them studio space. I told them flat out. You are buying a station for $940,000 that was taken by him for maybe 65,000 - 70,000??? I was told they want the night coverage and they weren't getting that from 750 alone. I tried to kindly inform them, they aren't getting the night coverage on 1550 either. I told them they would be better off approaching Citadel for one of their headache FM's for that kind of money! It was like talking to a brick wall! All I heard was "But he told us blah, blah..." I don;t wish any ill will on anyone but I know in my heart of hearts...Someday, somewhere, Bobby will finally get whats comin' to him... :D

I know some people who had the misfortune to work for him at WAXX and also Z95. He's not one of the better radio people... to put it without too much bashing.

I always got along well with Bob, mainly because his attempts at intimidation failed. He's not a bad guy, but he never really understood radio.

Not all owners do, which is why so many potentially good stations never make it.

Exactly, Fr. Tom. The good owners/general managers realize they know nothing about programming and they hire someone good to handle it. However, it rarely happens.
