Bob Dale

My condolances and thoughts to those who knew, worked with and/or watched Bob Dale for many years on KFMB and KCST/KNSD TV. People I knew who lived in San Diego all their lives tell me he always wore bow ties that people would send to him. I always enjoyed watching him on Channel 39. He really did try to find out what the weather would be, not just report what the NWS said.

He will be missed.
(Thank you Chris for passing the information along in your article, at http://www.sdradio.net ).

for more go to nbc7.com Excellent video on the great Bob Dale.

I lived in San Diego from 1967-77, and was lucky enough to briefly encounter Bob Dale a few times. Like everyone else is saying, he was a very nice guy. San Diego won't be the same without him.

A little-known fact about Bob Dale: When Joey Bishop was about to start his late night talk show on ABC in 1967, he offered the sidekick's job to Bob. He turned it down, wanting to remain in SD. So Bishop offered it to another KFMB personality - Regis Philbin.

RIP

I just read the Cleveland Plain Dealer obituary for Bob Dale. He began his career at WEWS-TV 5 in Cleveland from 1948-56. Were it not for an ear problem he suffered during World War II, he might have stayed in Cleveland a lot longer. He was a native of Canton, Ohio..from what I read, he was hugely popular in Cleveland..ondolences to the family..
