Bob Fitzgerald, KNBR...Your thoughts

Did anybody else catch Bob Fitzgerald in for Radnich this week?

I never listened much to him before, but he seems pretty good. He was asked by Rod Brooks in one of the faceoffs this week if he would come back, and I did not catch his answer.

I'd be more inclined to tune in if he came back and teamed with Brooks.

Your thoughts?

I think the lack of response speaks volumes.

He did not exactly set the world on fire his first time around. He was a little too smug for the nighttime shift. He had not real sense of humor, so they paired him with Franklin and there was nothing much. Then he had no real coolness, so they put him with Brooks till Agnew gave him the boot.

A very boring, unoriginal hire.

Could one of you or someone refresh my memory as to what happened? Did Fitz essentially force Greg Papa out of his job? If so, how did it all go down?

I believe there was an incident years ago where Bob did an end round, and replaced Greg as GS Warrior announcer.

Knowledgeable in sports, yet I have the same feelings. Backstabber Bob is a more appropriate name.

I found Bob Fitzgerald to be one of the only KNBR hosts worth listening to on a regular basis.
While there may have been 'dirty politics' involved in his getting the Warrior job, he has paid the price...by having to do Warrior games, while Greg Papa has been spared describing that train-wreck of a franchise.(We now return to discussion of radio topics. ;) )

The story was Fitzgerald asked Papa for, and received lots of help when Fitzgerald was the replacement guy. When Papa went in to renew his one year deal, just as he did every year, Fitzgerald told the Warriors that people wanted a full time Warriors guy, when Papa had A's and Raiders duties, and that he would also do it at a discount.

Remember, KNBR announced Fitzgerald would not be back after he pulled that stunt, only to have Fitzgerald come back at a cut rate discount.

Cannot wait to hear BF Moan at the recent loss of his Notre Dame. That whats drives me crazy about KNBR their constant refrences to their colleges. Who cares we know where they attended the repeat themselves weekly.

Too bad BF has to have Rod Brooks around as side kick his lack of broadcasting skills along with general week knowledge on sports etc brings the show down. How he keeps his job for so long i wonder is becuase he is a minority ??? ???. Wish they would have one person hosts so they dont have to have extended conversations with themselves that no body cares about but that proably went the way of the horse and buggy or such. ;D ;D

Wish BF would have the 3-7pm shift instead of those two who like to hear themselves talk.
