Bob-FM/Bismarck going Country?

Latest rumor I heard today is with the sale of BOB-FM in Bismarck and the sale being finalized will come a flip to Country. That will be 3--count 'em---3 FM country stations and a heritage AM Country---will they all survive????

Bob wearing cowboy boots...fashionable enough!!

From what I hear the day for the switch to country is November 1st.......wonder if they will still call themselves Bob, or switch to Hank...or something totally different for 105.9.

It IS very odd there is no mainstream A/C in Bismarck......very odd indeed.....

North Dakota's favorite music format is country IMO...

well---we're a week into November and BOB-FM has NOT changed to country. Their music mix is awful.....I know JACK and BOB's offer variety---but IF they play a song that I don't know and I live, breathe and program music---how the listeners or lack there of must feel when and IF they even listen. For me it's great they are playing what they do.....

It finally happened today---"BOB-FM" is no more. 105.9 is now billing itself as "The Rig." Never heard an odd name like that for a country station---from what i've heard so far---all automated AND BORING. Now 3 country FM's in Bismarck-Mandan. Didn't hear anything compelling so far. Weak liners with some guy with a southern twang delivering them.....me personally--NOT impressed, but it's only day one.....be interesting to see if "MOJO" 107.5 makes any adjustments since they no longer have a sound-alike sister station.

There ya go!

Hey-there's 103.9 The Truck (KVMI) in Arthur, ND-so a synonym for a truck is probably not so uncommon out there...

The area north of Tulsa in Oklahoma has had a "K-Rig" for over 20 years on two different frequencies. Whether on 94.3 or 104.9, you've never been able to get it in Tulsa, but you've never had to get too far out of town to start picking it up. Unlike the truck reference crainbebo mentioned, "K-Rig" in Oklahoma uses an oil rig in its logo since Tulsa was, for years, known as the "Oil Capitol." I'd guess The Rig in Bismarck is based more on the oil rig than the semi because of North Dakota's booming oil-based economy.
