Bob Gooding (WFAA) very ill

Longtime (1961-79) WFAA news anchor Bob Gooding is sick in Tyler. He just had a football-sized(!) malignant tumor removed from his kidney, and is now in a convalescent home. He's actually doing better than expected, and preliminary cancer tests on other key areas have turned up negative. Please keep Bob in your thoughts and prayers. If you'd like to send a card, please email me at [email protected] and I'll pass along the contact info.

This gets more and more depressing for me, and
it shows how long it's been since I lived in Dallas.
I might have a hard time adjusting to the new
generation; many of my favorites from the '70s
are gone (Chip Moody, Harold Taft, Frank Glieber),
retired (Tracy Rowlett, Troy Dungan, Warren Culbertson),
or have been stricken by illness (Judy Jordan and now Bob Gooding).
At least I still get to see Verne Lundquist on CBS Sports.

At any rate I remember Bob Gooding on News 8 at 5,
and I hope he has a full and successful (is that repetitious?)
recovery.

Hate to let you know that Warren Culbertson died about three months ago.

Sad news, Mike, thanx for the update
Not a problem...good news or bad, just trying to let folks know!

Warren Culbertson's passing may have slipped
my mind. My belated condolences to his family,
and thanks for telling me.

A sort of homage to Bob Gooding is on every night now on 8 with a new "It's 10:00 PM, do you know where your children are?" with video from the helecopter flying over downtown. Looks nice.

Somehow missed the WFAA era, but he was over at KTWS for awhile as well doing their "Source 27" 5 min. news segments.
