I keep hearing Bob Grant's callers tell him that he was the first host to do what he does, and Grant agrees with them. If you read Grant's columns, you'll find him doing the same in many of the editorials he writes. This is not true. There were other hosts who came before him, and there were other pioneers who were starting at the same time Grant did in the 1960s. Grant also expresses jealously toward modern hosts, but they don't owe Grant anything more than what they've already done for him. Malzberg, Hannity, Levin etc. have all paid tribute to Grant many times. Going by how the radio business works, Grant is lucky to have been on the radio past age sixty, let alone to age eighty-one. He is a pioneer, and influential host, but he doesn't have to be jealous of the modern day hosts. I also think he should not have returned to radio after he retired in 2006.
