Bob came in with quite a bit of buzz on this board. He replaced Todd Mokhtari, who did a tremendous job starting Q13 from scratch but seemed to do little at KIRO.
Bob was known as a mover and shaker throughout his career, and leaves KIRO, having done little of any consequence.
Angela Russell and Steve Raible are still the worst anchor team on TV. The set is still dated, and still needs to be replaced. The brand, and format, needs updating. I think, based on the status quo terms of two excellent News Directors, we can conclude that Cox just won't go for big changes.
Sadly, though, during the reign of Bob Jordan, KIRO lost many of their long time reporters. I always felt that KIRO's best feature was their stable of outstanding journalists... we lost the following vets:
*Stacy Sakamoto - 22 years
*Clark Stahl - 30 years
*Rick Price - 15 years at KIRO, more at KOMO
*Richard Thompson - 15 years at KIRO
*Chris Halsne - 15 years
I was a little more ambivalent about the higher profile talent shown the door during his tenure:
*Julie Francavilla
*Rebecca Stevenson
*Jenni Hogan
The greatest positive change under Jordan was the redo of the morning news. Michelle Millman, John Knicely, and Brian Monahan have tremendous chemistry and might be the best morning team in town (and KING's lineup is formidable, as is KCPQ's).
Any thoughts? Where does KIRO go now?
