Bob Kingsley to leave American Country Countdown?

I wonder why they felt the change was necessary? Kingsley has always been a professional since he took over for the original host, country commedian Don Bowman. Back then Kinglsey was heard all day long on a number of country stations using the syndicated voicetracked "Great American Country". The update on R&R says he's working on a new deal.
 
My guess is Kingsley's new show will replace ACC on many of its current affiliates a la Casey's Top 40 with Casey Kasem -v- American Top 40 with Shadoe Stevens in 1988/1989.
 
I've already gotten a call from a very panicked-sounding rep from ABC radio in NYC, wanting to inform me about the change. I told her I'd known since early Tuesday... I also asked WHY the change, and all she would say is that "It was time to make a change." I know that they simply chose not to renegotiate a new deal with Bob Kingsley.

What's next? Replacing Paul Harvey with Jimmy Kimmel??

Ride with Bob? You have to ask yourself if he has done such a great job at servicing his stations over the years! I dont believe there is panic at ABC!

Bob took over hosting ACC in 1978, and has been with the show since its beginning in 1972.

Kix Brooks to Replace Bob Kingsley As Host Of 'American Country Countdown'

ABC Radio Networks has lured Kix Brooks over to the "dark side," as he will replace 35 year "American Country Countdown" host Bob Kingsley. "ACC" is the longest running and most listened to countdown to #1 in the world.

"The thing about Kix...not only is he a consummate entertainer, he loves what he does...and he has done it as completely as anyone I've ever seen," says John McConnell, Senior Vice President of ABC Radio Networks, of the choice. "He knows the music. He knows the songs. He knows the people. He knows the life. But especially, he knows the stories, and the artists and fans just seem to take him places they wouldn't most other people. This positions us to take a show that's the standard by which everyone else is compared to even deeper places," says McConnell. "Kix is a natural story-teller, and he brings that out in others. This is a show that's not just what the hits are, but who the people writing and recording them are. So, "American Country Countdown" is poised to be the definitive source. And, given Kix's personality, the listeners will have a lot of fun."

Brooks will take over as the host of the 16 time Billboard Network/Syndicated Show of the Year winner on the weekend of January 6-7th. A music intensive 4 hours that counts down the biggest 40 songs in Country music each week, "ACC" is heard on more than 400 radio stations nationwide, along with the Armed Forces Radio Network and internationally through a joint venture with Radio Express.

"I think this is gonna be cool," says Kix, the man with the smoky voice, the quick laugh and the sparkle in his eyes. "The idea of getting to bring the listeners into our world, to give them insight into where the music comes from and what our lives are like out here...it's a great way to bring people even closer to what we do every week...and I love that."

Meanwhile, Bob Kingsley says that his KCCS Productions will continue to provide the same great weekly Country radio countdown programming, with the same producer, writers, and staff, as before. Kingsley will continue to produce and host his countdown program, and daily feature. An announcement concerning a new distribution partner, and other details will be forthcoming...
