Bob Lacey announces retirement

Bob Lacey To Retire From Bob & Sheri Show

Lance mentions that Sheri will remain on the show. But wow…talk about the end of an era.
Any word on if K104 or any of the other affiliates will still carry the show? They dropped Ace & TJ after Ace’s departure.

A lot of the long running Charlotte morning shows are hanging it up (voluntarily or involuntarily). John Boy & Billy, Paul & Sarah Lee, Ace & TJ, Bob & Sheri, might as well include Matt & Ramona and Tom Joyner too. Is radio really in that bad of shape? All strong morning shows with decades of success.

Interest to note the honesty...

Sounds like he is just over it.
Frankly, I really appreciate the honesty. He could have just tossed out boilerplate lip service, and didn’t.

I remember when they began airing on the-then Modern AC WWVV-FM (“Wave 106.9”), in Savannah, GA (where I grew up). Yeah, there’s a sameness to that style of morning show but I’ve always felt like Bob & Sheri were a bit snarkier than other similar morning shows, and I used to like Lamar’s movie reviews. WWVV went Modern Rock, then AAA, then Country, as it is now as WUBB.

Things change. Hell, I turned 43 last month and aside from huge names like Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter, a ton of Top 40 artists are super alien to me, and it makes me feel twice that old. I get it.

I guess we’ll see what happens next. But, yeah, definitely the end of an era. Time flies. Boy, does it ever.

I'm 52 and I know what I like. Top 40 dropped off my radar in my early 20's. Strangly enough, getting onto a relationship has slowed down my thirst for wanting to know about the "next big thing". I hope I'm still chasing it in my 60's.

I believe Bob Lacey is now in his 70's and is indeed ready to retire. But it should be noted that most of his Charlotte broadcast career was with the major Jefferson-Pilot venues at One Julian Price Place. He was the first talk show host on WBT, with Lacey Listens. Then WBT morning show host before moving to WBTV as host of PM Magazine. Then back to radio at 107.9 with Bob and Sheri before moving to K-104.7. Long successful broadcast career in Charlotte and a member of WBT Hall of Fame.

Not a big fan of the show.. and i know a station that picked it up and subsequently dropped it after 2 or 3 weeks.. way too much talking and some very off color/inappropriate questions asked of callers

The show has lasted over 30 years and currently has 70+ affiliates. I think you're in the minority on that one.

You've told us the story about Bob making a gay joke about the drapes matching the carpet in the 90s, and you were just so offended by that vulgar content that you dropped the show the next day. That seems very G rated to me, but to each is own. I guess y'all were trailblazers on the PC movement :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
