Bob Mason

Word has it that Bob Mason is back on the radio in Albany. I guess he was on the air yesterday (talk 1300) talking it up about his old pal Mr. Ed Levine. I was told it was funny stuff.

Mason is a bright and educated guy who understands the Capital Region both politically and culturally. I've been advocating for several years that he would have been a valuable asset for WROW in afternoon drive if he evolved from his old drunk/stoned rock jock personae. Sounds like Paul may be giving Bob the chance to reinvent himself as a viable talk radio host which could be an exciting thing for this market.

Paul may be on to something. Let's not forget that Levine gave him a chance to reinvent himself a few years back and it didn't work. I'm not sure if talking about the Galaxy situation on Talk1300 is political or cultural. I'm not defending Ed Levine in any way. Trust me. I'm just making a statement.

"I'm not sure if talking about the Galaxy situation on Talk1300 is political or cultural."

I'd call it "venting" and one would hope that Bob would be able to get past it and move on to topics which are
more relevant and interesting to listeners and potential listeners. Of course, being child-like and self-centered is the reason that a lot of radio talent are fascinating to listen to (though not to work or live with) but their navel-gazing can limit their ability to grow.
