If you're in need of a good laugh, check out Bob Newhart's
"I Shouldn't Be Doing This." I got it for Christmas and read
it straight through this afternoon (it's about 200 pages long).
It has lots of excerpts from his telephone monologues, dialogue
from his two best-known shows, "The Bob Newhart Show" ('70s)
and "Newhart" ('80s), plus some great stories about show-biz
friends (some of whom have left us) like Johnny Carson, Dean
Martin, and Don Rickles. And it's all done with the sense of
humor and regular-guy attitude that has made him such an icon.
If you're a Newhart fan, you have to get this book.
