Bob Nolan Dies

No one outside of the Rochester market will know who Bob Nolan is, as I'm sure a lot of the new hires will either. But Bob was the spokesman for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office for many years and also Deputy Director of Communications when I signed on board with Monroe County in 2004.

Bob did have a background in broadcasting however. He worked for the CBS network in Los Angeles and had some very interesting stories not only about his job, but some of the big stars at the network at that time. People like Red Skelton, Carol Burnett and others.

Bob was a decent fellow who loved to go boating during his spare time. When he retired from Monroe County in 2005 I figured he would spend the rest of his life on his boat sailing the waters of Lake Ontario. Eventually he moved to Florida, where I know he was out on the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean doing what he loved to do.

Anytime someone you worked with and admired passes away it is a loss. Bob's sudden death at age 66 was a shock to me and I'm sure his friends.

My condolences goes out to Bob Nolan's family.

My condolences, as well. I dealt with Bob on a regular basis during my time on the assignment desk at R News, and always found him to be a consummate pro and a good guy.

I knew Bob as a real Blues guy who would always be at various places seeing local & national acts on a regular basis. Many a time we were at the BK Lounge enjoying a killer band and a few brews.
