Bob Rivers' Show - Contract Renewal?

Hotmic said:
Radioguy123 and everyone else, This entire subject has been stuffed FULL of "ASSUMPTIONS"..right down to the very last posting!! Rock On Bob Rivers, and Rock On KZOK!!! Both entities will be just fine.

You mean there ISN'T an underground torture chamber run by the Mob underneath CBS Seattle?.....

That promo is excellent work. I really liked the subliminal message after the bars blipped at the end...The quote: "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." It's a quote made famous by Albert Schweitzer...

Since Mid-July, BJ and his crew on KISW have changed the format of the show to include more Classic Gold tracks. BJ's playing 3-4 songs per hour, just like a lot of shows instead of being exclusively a talk show as in the past 11 years of his program.

Entercom knew Bob's deal was up and have been counter-programming KZOK's music in Morning Drive and the Midday shifts on KISW by playing more classic gold tracks in Morning Drive for 3 months now. The midday has had more classic rock tracks since Ricker's departure.

I believe, Entercom wants KISW to re-enter the genre of Classic Rock and lean away from the newer and current bands of today to protect KNDD's musical direction.

Here's the big deal. In April 2011, BJ and his crew vacate KISW's Morning Drive shift and move down the dial to KNDD while Bob and his crew return to KISW. KISW also goes straight forward into KZOK's music selection.

And I believe "nwoidaho" has been eating too many potatoes. There's NO WAY Rivers will go back to KISW.

Dumb question....if Bob's contract was done and Bob and CBS walked away 'friends'...why the 6 month non-compete? I thought Bob's contract was "DONE" and he was free.

Because the non compete clause is normally held at the end of the contract, no matter who decided to allow the contract to expire, or not renew, as the case may be.

Has anyone noticed that the rotating banner on the front page of KISW.com says....

"Thank You Bob Rivers" ???

No Way BJ goes to the END. What about Bob on The Mountain? Can Entercom afford him though? They couldn't 10 years ago and times are WAY tougher now than 10 years ago! Isn't BJ's agent the same agent as Bobs?

What the heck, I'll stir the speculation stew that is the Seattle-Tacoma board..

Has anyone thought that maybe they're going to take a full-run at syndication? When you're stuck doing a morning show on a Seattle station, your options for scale are limited. Six months to pitch and prepare to do a nationally syndicated show is about right, assuming Rivers hasn't already done some advanced scouting around.

That show would be a good choice for syndication if they have the nerve to do the extra work, which I believe Bob does anyway.

How about THIS? Bob takes 30 days off and goes BACK to KZOK!?!?! Greatest ratings getter ever. Just a thought. We know he's not going to KIRO, so it's KZOK, KISW, KMTT or....what about KJR???

Bob's disappearance from KZOK - A big huge prank?

Hmmm....maybe for the readers/posters here. But the normal, non-radio minded folks out there listening, which STILL outnumber ALL of us, they probably won't get the joke if he came back on KZOK this way. Stuff like that backfires horribly sometimes and I think Bob and Co. are a little smarter than that.

Hmmm interesting conversation now that KIRO appears to be out of the picture. Since we are all tossing out scenarios I have to say that maybe Bob does land back on KISW in the morning and with the Men's Room doing well in the afternoon's that would leave BJ Shea the odd man out and with him still under contract maybe he does move down the dial to KNDD.

But if Entercom is going to pay BJ why would they move him to another station to compete with a show they obviously are going to have to give up hoops of cash for. So granted if Bob did get lured back to the Dark Side then why wouldn't you slide BJ into the mid day between Rivers and The Men's Room, you then have a monster on your hands in all day parts mornings through Jolene at night.

That certainly was a whole heap of what if's on my part but I am loaded on prescription medication right now so what do I care

I am pretty sure the End is doing well in the AM with the PPM friendly Music Mornings with Red, so I don't think they'd go to a traditional morning show. (also, I hear they beat BJ in their key demo, so why mess with success)

The BJ mid-day move makes more sense. But that almost makes KISW an FM Talk ("hot talk") Station doesn't it?

Because the first one went so well?

Whatever the hell they want. They can turn KISW back into a classical station tomorrow if it so behooved them.....

A Classic Rock station is what KISW is now...AM Drive, Midday and Afternoon's all reek like a Classic Rocker in my book...

Calm down. Nobody is saying they can not change format. ::)
