Bob Shannon: Stay where you are

Bob Shannon has 2 shows: Does WLNG Long Island on Tuesdays with his wife Connie T., and of course weekdays on WCBS-FM. Bob did his Tuesday show on March 11th, returned March 25th, but has not returned. Now he ended Friday's show on CBS without his signature "Be Seeing Ya".
Just 9 months after his return to CBS. Let's hope this Radio Great is not saying "See ya"

He said it was his last show "for a while", and that Pat St. John will be covering the midday shift starting Monday. No idea what's going on here, but hopefully all is well with him.

This sounds more like a health issue or similar problem, rather than a Shannon-CBS issue. The fact he left his other show indicates something serious.

I'm not sure if I got this down pat but I think Bob might be back Wednesday??! I don't know. Pat St. John just gave a run-down for this week. He said Ron Parker is filling in all week for vacationing Dan Taylor, Pat will be subbing for Bob a couple days, Joe Causi for Ron on Monday and Tuesday and Pat said he'll be in for Ron on Wednesday night with Joe returning on Thursday. He didn't say anything about Bob coming back but if Pat is doing the evening slot on Wednesday I don't see who could be doing the Wednesday mid-day slot unless Pat is doing double duty which is extremely unlikely.

I don't know if anything can be read into this but here is an interesting thing that happened this afternoon. When the Golden Gup ends his daily afternoon show on WMTR-AM (and wmtram.com) he usually talks about his website goldengup.com and mentions that he or his cohorts Bobby Jay and Bob Shannon are available for hiring as an MC. This afternoon the Golden Gup mentioned his website as he was signing off as usual but made no mention of Bobby Jay and made no mention of Bob Shannon as well. I wonder way he left this out of his normal end of show announcement today. Perhaps this is related to the questions going around as to what is happening with Bob Shannon.

(Note that Bobby Jay and Bob Shannon are both still mentioned on the goldengup.com website. But since websites do not always get updated in a timely fashion, I still think it is relevant to note what the Golden Gup said - or in this case didn't say - when he signed off this afternoon.)

His show is clearly voictracked, listen to the time checks,"its about 3:22" . I enjoy listening to him and he knows it but how long ago did he record todays show??

Google cashe the page and I notice a lot of effort was put into that page. why say its under construction?

THE BOB SHANNON HOME PAGE IS UNDER RECONSTRUCTION

For what it's worth..The "Golden Gup" on WMTR is voice tracked so the info may be a bit dated. I did hear Pat St. John say it was the "Bob Shannon" show. If he was leaving for an extended period of time they would not do this. All signs point to a health issue which WCBS-FM and/or Bob Shannon do not care to discuss at this time.

Bob Shannon is scheduled to return to CBS-FM on Wednesday April 16th. A friend of mine called WLNG and they told him that Bob and Connie will be on WLNG next Tuesday April 22nd. He took time off for personal reasons.

:) Bob is back, he said he was playing a tourist in NYC, sounds like he had fun, glad he is ok :) welcome back BS missed ya!!
