Bob & Sheri on Entercom Commercials?

What's up with Sheri doing a car dealer commercial on the Entercom stations? It starts off with her saying, "This is Sheri from the Bob & Sheri show..." How SPINELESS does your sales manager have to be in order to let this happen?Boy, if you needed evidence of who runs the show! What's next, "Hi this is Ellis from WSSL here on Magic 98.9 to tell you about Bubba's used cars?" ::)Sad, just plain sad.

Thanks for confirming that I am not in fact losing my mind. I was headed back from the beach last weekend and heard this, and thought I'd had too much sun. Just to get around my learning curve...are Bob & Sheri on the air in GSP? If so, this is indeed a stupid move for Entercom. I suppose that's what happens when nobody is sailing the ship.

Bob and Sherri are not on in Greenville. Perhaps that's why they don't care if this spot airs. Maybe it's a dumber move for the advertiser than for Entercom. There is a captain sailing the ship, but she is a newbie GM I think.

This was a policy in place before the new GM came on board. Rumor is that CC is running this spot as well. Entercom used to have B&S on Star 103. But you can pick them up from stations in Charlotte. It is a waste of 3 seconds at the beginning of the commercial for the advertiser, but an interesting flex of muscles. I've seen sales run the show before, but never so blatantly as this though. Programming must feel about 3 feet tall in the Entercom building. They know who is boss!

My other thought is that perhaps Sherri is a personal friend of the owner of the dealership. This would make only slightly more sense than this being a paid endorsement. But neither option makes a great deal of sense to me. It would be a cold day in Haiti before I let an ad on one of my stations which featured named talent from a station which could compete with me. But that's just my opinion.

I'd have to say no. WTAM can be heard in Greenville at night. Should Newsradio WORD turn down a commercial with Trivisonno on it?

Keep in mind, they have been in this market AND while they get a small share of the market, they are affecting you more in Spartanburg than Greenville/Anderson. Also, since they are syndicated, they could pop up in this market at any time and you have been, even if only a little, helping make them a recognizable name in your market.I just don't see how Entercom (and I hear CC too, is that true?) could not have stood up to the client and said, "Sorry, we don't advertise other station's shows on our station. We'd be happy to run your spot if she doesn't do the endorsement at the beginning."

I get your point but there are so many battles to fight on a daily basis, I don't really think that airing Bob and Sheri in a spot, where they failed when they were on IN the market, is worth it. It looks like a battle with no prize to be won.

I have to definitely agree here. It seems to me that an advertisement from Sheri from the the Bob and Sheri show would not hurt whomever the staion and the advertiser was.

Gotta call b******* on this one.I wouldn't put a competitor on the air doing an endorsement with their name mentioned. for ANY amount of money. A unattributed voice from another station....maybe. Probably not, but maybe. But to have someone from the morning show across the street mention THEIR show on MY air? Even if you can only listen online....Does McDonalds have signs in the lobby saying "KFC does chicken right?"Next thing, they'll be renting the side of their building to put up competing stations' billboards.Sheesh....another high point in SC radio. Way to go guys.

did entercom fill the greenville/sburg gm job ???
Yeah, Sharon Day. Don't know her, but I've heard good things, and apparently the mood in the building is already much better... again, just hearsay.
