Bob Stevens' Shopping Spree

As reported this morning, WKHJ/WMSG/WWHC all in the Deep Creek Lake/Oakland, MD area have been purchased by Broadcast Communications. Format changes, transmitter moving plans in the early stages? Please don't do to Western Maryland what was done to Waynesburg. I remember when 103.1 was full service to Waynesburg, then nearly all satellite-delivered, then off more than it was on, then moved entirely.

The problem I see with any of these Maryland stations is the terrain of the area severely impacts their under powered facilities as it is. All three fade in their COL by the mountains. Not to mention, I can't imagine this is a huge area for billing. Does that mean more people cutting checks for snake oil medical shows or polka shows? Let's hope not.

I wonder who were some of the other potential buyers of these stations - Dix (WKGO/WTBO/WFRB) or West Virginia Radio Corp???

JKF/ Thanks for remembering when 103.1 in Waynesburg was a "full service" fm station. I didn't think anyone still remembers that radio station in the 1980s. Actual local news coverage....what a concept.

I turned WANB on, both on the AM and FM side, and I heard country music in the morning, along with a top-of-the-hour newscast, and this was back in October. Have things changed since then? The FM signal sounded pretty good for just being a translator.
