Bob the Builder! now at WBLF

Have you heard the cute imaging that Magnum Broadcasting is doing on 970 WBLF.

They have recruited "Bob the Builder" to handle the construction efforts of returning viability, profitability, and community-awareness back to the station. Which would be the first time since the station was Country back in the mid-90's.

When will Bob be completely done with the remodeling job?

Man...where ya been? Its been Bob and Whistle While You Work for over a week. Longest teaser for a new launch I have ever heard. They really ought to step it up a little or any curious listeners who hit the frequency will have long since given up and moved along someplace else on the dial.

Anyway. It was kind of cute the first thousand times...but now I have come to the conclusion that Bob CANNOT FIX IT! But at least its not Yellow Submarine Ten Million Times in a row. That was getting crusty fast too.

What happened to Tor Michaels?

"What happened to Tor Michaels?"

He's there...waiting for Bob The Builder to get done. Heard they're shooting (or hoping) for around the first. Rush, Tor, Byers... WRSC, Too! Pretty exciting, huh?

Actually, I **did** hear Rush today (no ads, but tons of Rush's spoof ads. Then, a few interruptions from CNN Headline News..and Dr. Laura at 3pm (no legal ID that I heard at that time, either).

But it do sound like WBLF is not "BLF-ing" when it comes to doing some "building" up of the programming....<P ID="signature">______________

Assuming that is the case, anyone want to predict the outcome? I mean BLF does not have a great signal, but they can be heard in Town at least during the day. If they come out with a hard lineup do you think they will sink the nail in the WRSC coffin? I just do not see there being room in this town for 2 news talkers, but I could be mistaken.

How about a Rush vs. O'reilly faceoff? Both are pretty strong and popular. Anyone want to guess who will fare best?

My guess is that WRSC won't suffer. Most likely to suffer if Rush is brought to WBLF is WIEZ out of Lewistown. After Dame dumped Rush and WIEZ picked it up, they made a showing in the book. Bringing Rush back to Centre County knocks WIEZ off the book.

WRSC, Too!

The whole staff, on-air and sales, is full of ex-WRSC people. So nobody should be surprised to hear a WRSC knockoff. For the record, WIEZ has had Rush for about 20 years, so his fans knew right where to turn. But WIEZ never sold anything in Centre County anyway, so they won't "suffer." Now some/most Rush fans will drift up to 970, but Rush was only worth a share or two anyway. WBLF will chip off a few shares from RSC out in the county where their signal is stronger, and they'll take a few of their advertising bucks. Trouble is, there's not many shares or bucks to take. Hard to see how they're gonna pay all those people (and Rush). Might've been able to portray themselves as "Bellefonte's Radio Station" but moving to State College killed that. Nothing pisses off Bellefontians more than losing something to State College. Hate to be a pessimist, but it's too bad they couldn't think of something else to do with it other than be a WRSC carbon copy. What a big YAWN.
