Bob vs. Flash saga

You guys are all pathetic...those of you who work at a corporate radio station should know by now that the listening audience has NO SAY! This format decision will be made by the corporate First Broadcasting in Dallas, TX - no one else.

I love how these stations pretend that the listener has a voice - haha. I will say that I enjoy the 80's hair bands, not a "bob" listener, but right now "BOB", "JACK", etc. is what's selling, not the 80's. Not to mention a majority of the stations here in Sac on the dial are playing more 80's songs.

This company wants to profit. I see them sticking with "Bob".
Edited by braddacripple on 07/29/05 04:24 AM.

Were Pathetic? Right, that must be it. In fact First Broadcasting must be going to great lengths to fool everyone. Registering a new website called flash92.1, upgrading the watts to a booming 4500 from 3000 or whatever. we already discussed the fact that first is blowing smoke up the listeners asses, just scroll down and look.......it's called a little research, try it
moron

Get rid of Flash, 'cuz Bob plays the same 80's as Flash does, with a few 70's, 90's & currents. Bob's useful, Flash is useless.

Did you sign your name as moron or were you calling the last post a moron?
Sticks and stones! Oh well.

Riddle me this...
Why does it take a station named FLASH so long to count votes? Are the counters from Florida?

If we're so pathetic, why are you wasting your otherwise obviously valuable time lobbing these bombs out at us? Do you LIKE the abuse?

We're not stupid, Brad -- we love radio, and some of us are marks for the biz -- but we know who pulls what strings and where they live. First is clearly calling the shots, but there are some extremely talented people making compelling things happen on the air at 92.1 right now, and at 103.9 for the past three weeks.

> I love how these stations pretend that the listener has a

Perhaps they don't listen as much when all the listener has to say is "you guys are pathetic."

True, there are more 80s songs than before on a host of Sacramento stations. But you can't say that JACK is what's "Selling." It's still too new in most markets to call it a success. It is the "next big thing", but radio -- like most things in life -- runs in cycles. 80's, "Jack," "Progressive Talk" -- all phases of an evolving business.

This company DOES want to profit -- which is why they'll move the stick, boost the power, and sell it for more than they paid for it. Just like they did with 103.9. The format isn't the issue -- it's the signal, which is where they'll make the money (again -- just like 103.9).

Brad, you may think we're all idiots, and that's fine. The fact that some of us have jobs, women and relationships with parents we no longer live with should not make you feel less of a man. By the way -- which station do YOU presently work for?

Nice one. No, it's just building the suspense (or at least the perception of suspense) for the audience.

You still think First is going to make its decision based on that listener poll?
