Bobby and Hank

Anybody want to tackle the Bobby O'Jay - Hank Jr thing about The Med? I didn't hear it, only what The Med said in the press conference...and Mike Fleming's take on it, that Bobby didn't do anything out of line, and the comment came from a caller.

Having not heard it, it's difficult to offer an opinion. However, if the Bobby lent ANY credibility to a caller in this situation without first getting a statement from the hospital or Hank Jr., I would say he was out of line.

Hey Saur...Don't you see this mentality all the time in your other job!..Let's see...Hank Jr. flies into Memphis within hours after his two daughters are critically injured in an auto accident. Both are being treated at the Med, which is one of the best trauma centers in the country don't you know. So Hank arrives to find out that the youngest of the two girls, Hillary, is in a life and death situation at this point. So, don't you know that the first thing on Hank's mind at this point in time is to make sure the medical team is caucasion.
What a bunch of B.S.
Hank let it be known in the news conference that he was appalled and hurt by the statements made by the caller to WDIA, and furthermore the staff at the med involved in the care of the daughters, which included an Afro-American nurse totally dismissed the claims made by the caller as rubbish.
I am sad that once again in this city, the least thing can spark the ole proverbial racial card. I didn't hear how Bobby O'Jay chose to handle the caller, I only know how I would have handled it if I had been the host. And in the words of the late Oliver C. Reed, the caller would have set slowly in the West!

Peace Saur and when we doing lunch?

From what Fleming said, Bobby stated he didn't beleive it, but I wondered if anybody on this board heard it. Given the situation in Memphis, I'm not sure I would have let that go on the air unless it could be confirmed, but admittedly that's a Monday morning quarterback thing.

... and possibly in court. Such silly statements, if made and untrue, are potentially actionable.

Doesn't Bobby take his calls live? Without a delay (which I don't know if they use or not) or a call screener (which I don't know if they have) he wouldn't have the option of not letting the caller speak.

Don't know. Given the current legal climate I sure would. Maybe some of the CC'ers here can chime in...
