Bobby Hebb on WFMU tonight

WFMU / New Jersey has an interview by Dorian Devins with Bobby Hebb tonight, 2/19/07 at 6:02 PM

http://wfmu.org/audiostream.shtml

WFMU
P.O. Box 2011
Jersey City , NJ 07303-2011

Bobby is the co-author of the Grammy winning song "A Natural Man" (Grammy for singer Lou Rawls),
and author / singer of "Sunny", which is on the Grammy winning album "Night Train To Nashville"
(Grammy certificate on http://www.bobbyhebb.com ). "Love Love Love" by Bobby was a top 40 hit
on the BBC in the U.K., while "A Satisfied Mind" hit the Top 40 in America after "Sunny". Bobby played
guitar with John Lee Hooker, Roscoe Shelton, Baby Cortez (on Rinky Dink), Sylvia Robinson and many others.

Please tune in - he's a fascinating man. His myspace is http://myspace.com/sunnybobbyhebb where you can see James Brown, The 4 Tops, Cher and others performing "Sunny"

I listened to this interview from the link above. Bobby sounds like he's 85..wait..he is. He didn't answer the questions..so the host just fiddled around sounding SO disinterested..almost sounding like the valium had just kicked in. I don't know who she is..'cause she never said her name. A later guest said Dorian?
Look..I don't wish to trash another radio host, because we all have a bad day now and then, or have an guest who is not cooperative, so to speak..but here's my advise.
I wanted to know about Bobby Hebb's performing with The Beatles!! THAT would have been fab..she just glided over it. She didn't probe about his hit "Sunny" the way she should have. I wanted to hear his take on why the song is one of the most played EVER..Talk about WHY the song was written..Kennedy killed..Hebb's brother's murder..why did the song take so LONG to come to market (3 years)..It was written in '63..not a hit 'til '66, etc.............
My advise: If you're gonna get a former music star on the air..and insist on doing an hour show LIVE, at least have the guts to ask questions that are probing. Don't just let the guy say "yea..that was a good song"..or "I did play with them, yes". That's the cue to ask MORE. And if he's not with it..(he didn't seem too alert either)..then have fun with the guy..make HIM tell the stories.. If he can't..then cut bait and run. Perhaps that is the stationality.. Bland, boring, non-probing, NOT fun for sure. What a shame. It could have been a rare glimpse of the makings of one of the most beloved songs of our time.
