Bollywood Beats 1040 AM

Okay what's the scoop on this station based in Conyers? Did they just dry up? What's on there now? Shortly after they signed on with the hindi/desi programming they were to get 50KW with one tower..did that ever happen? What's the inside back-story on this station? I would be interested in hearing all that you guys know.

thanks

I've heard things.

I understand they are on 50kW days now. I think that the Koreans that were on 1080 are now on 1040.

My understanding is that the owner is...shall we say...frugal. (But thats not a huge stretch...it is radio.)

1080 and 1040 are both Korean.

And between 5 and 5:30pm, there's some guy speaking in Korean but playing 70s AM gold...Bo Donaldson, Player, James Taylor...And I heard him play David Cassidy and Leif Garrett last weak, no joke.

Straaaaaange programming...

I noticed 1080 playing something that sounded like Spanish gospel music. Their LMA with the Koren broadcasters may have ended and they decided to find another station that better covers their demographic (and has a cheaper rate). I imagine 1040 would reach a larger portion of that group.

So the Bollywood format is out..Thought that might have been a pretty good thing. A lot of East Indian listeners, and they mixed in English with Hindi and over alll it sounded pretty good technically..

Two different groups tried Bollywood Beat on 1040 and lost their shirts. The Koreans were simulcasting on 1080 and 1040 for a few weeks before droping 1080 all together. 1080 is Spanish for now which is Spanish owned. No telling what will wind up on it and who cares.
