As first rumoured on ALL ACCESS yesterday (NET NEWS 12/20), CBS RADIO announced today that DANNY BONADUCE will join THE ADAM CAROLLA SHOW as a featured member of the morning drive program beginning on TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2007. Broadcast live out of the show’s flagship station, KLSX/LOS ANGELES, THE ADAM CAROLLA SHOW is carried on six CBS RADIO stations on the West Coast, and syndicated to a host of additional stations.

"If you asked me why I wanted to join ADAM’s show, my first reaction would be to say poverty," said BONADUCE, "followed quickly by the fact that I’m a big fan and have a lot of respect for his work. There’s nothing quite like doing live radio especially with a veteran like ADAM. Having done his show in the past I know that there is something unique about what we bring to the table. I’m thrilled to be included and look forward to being back on the air full time."
 
How long will he last?? He is a freak and you think he is gonna be able to be at work at 6am everyday? What if he goes on a drinking binge??? YIKES

One of the greatest mysteries in broadcasting is why Danny Bonaduce still has a job in major market radio.
 
If I'm not mistaken... if they're doing the morning show live in L.A., they're in the studio live at 2am Pacific time. Hell, that's merely staying up late for Danny.
 
Short term fix. Simple as that. He'll be fun for about as long as Roth was. One week!
 
Remember when they tried to replace Carolla on Loveline with Bonaduce? It seemed like every call was "PLEASE DON'T PUT BONADUCE ON LOVELINE!" So what do they do? They stick him with Adam. No way this is going to work. I think it's funny that there haven't been any quotes from Adam about this change. "Yeah, they fired one of my friends and replaced him with a guy that peaked in 1975."
 
adding Bonaduce just make this the radio version
of good cop/bad cop...probably not the worst thing
 
I live in Indiana, but listen to the podcasts, and I really like the show. This really sucks. Danny makes everything about him. I get so tired of his introspective self-egrandising all the time. This is a mistake. Plus they are a couple of egos that could really click, or send the show into flames.

So they really fired Dameschek? Did anyone else from the show get let go? Like I said, I am in Indiana, so I am out of the loop.
 
Secondly, is he a co-host, and everyday member of the show, or a frequent guest?
 
This is a post from Adam Carolla on the message board of his show. I am sure it's probably him. If so, this whole deal just has the makings of a catastrophic mess. Hopefully Danny's ego stays in check, and Adam doesn't get so unhappy that he quits.

First off, thanks to all of you for your support over the last year. I really appreciate it. You all know what's going on with the show, but what you may not know is why everything happened and how i feel about it.

The show has been doing pretty well in the ratings in every market we're in except the one the suits in NY care about which is Los Angeles. They decided that Damashek was the problem. I disagreed with that and convinced them to give me until the end of the year to get the ratings up in LA. When our next ratings trend came in we got a 3.3 in LA up from a 1.2 and it looked like everyone's job was safe. But when our last ratings trend came in 2 days before the xmas break we got a .7. I know it seems impossible to go from a 3.3 to a .7 when the product hasn't changed but that's the beauty of Arbitron. The .7 is all the guys in NY needed to strip the show.

I like Dave as a friend, and i like him as a comedian although i do understand he's an aquired taste. I thought he did a great job this year and you can bet right now that Jimmy Kimmel is hard at work trying to find him a sports radio job. I'll miss doing radio with him but we'll remain friends and i'll see him every Sunday watching football over at Kimmel's.

As far as Bonaduce goes, obviously i didn't choose him because if i had my druthers Dave would be in studio come Jan. 2. But, that being said, i do think he's a talented radio personality who has a lot to offer, much more than his drunken, menacing tv persona would lead you to believe. He's done the show a number of times and has done tv shows i've been on and our chemistry has always been good. We met a few days back and he understands that it's not going to be the Danny and Adam show. It will be the Adam Carolla show with Danny Bonaduce and Teresa Strausser.

Thats as honest as you can get. and he's not exactly saying he respects danny boy. More like, he's a schmuck, but he's got some degree of radio talent (only) , and lets see what happens.
but from that terse post, cleary DB wasn't his choice, he's concerned about DB's ego and sounds like he's got misgivings even going forward. wow.
 
Bonaduce will do fine. He was the only part of Star's morning show that didn't blow. The pairing could be interesting. Ego? Come on ... this is radio. Personalities still think everyone sits around a table or on couches and focuses on their every word. It's Disneyland anyway. Let the games begin. It won't be any worse. And it has a better shot at being better. As for the suits, if the jocks don't get it by now, they never will. Blaming suits is an endless process. I would rather be a suit in this day of radio than one that cracks the mic. I know everyone wishes it was the 70s and 80s again but it ain't. Wake up and smell the reality of dealing with ratings and corporate. That is what you do for a living now. Corporate radio. It's the same in TV and Film. Make it work and stop bitching. I personally think it will do just fine. A low 2 to a mid 3 share and all will be well.
 
Does anyone watch Jimmy Kimmel LIVE? Well he has the Rosie O'Donnell watch. He just knows that sometime soon on 'The View', Rosie is just simply lose it. He has shown some excerpts of her steaming already.

The same may go for the Bonaduce and Corolla match up. Just sit back, listen and wait for something to blow up. Then this just may get them the ratings the NY suits are looking for.

they should put cameras in the studio now and pitch a reality show slang it to VH1 as a whole new package make more bank on it.
 
I can not wait until Danny and Adam get into it. I love Adam and Danny, well the verdict is still out on him. I can only take him in 22minute doses aka his reality show but we shall see tomorrow morning.
