Though a flip isn't unexpected, it will be interesting to hear which direction they are going to take.
Since a lot of us here don't have much background with Cumulus, can you give us a little information on the company attitude?
I've read some postings in other markets on their M.O of coming in and there being a lot of firings.

Well they better do something by May the 5th (or rather Cinco de Mayo) or it's espanol for these guys (I'm not saying it should be and it better not.)<P ID="signature">______________

You sound just like all the other Cumulus corporate kiss-asses. Cumulus is just the opposite of what you described. They LOVE to voice track and they love to only have two full-time employees per station. They don't care about ratings or quality. They care about the bottom DOLLAR line - PERIOD. I don't know how long you've worked at the station in West Texas (KBAT, I presume), but, trust me, the illusion won't last long.

Actually, at my old cluster that Cumulus took over, they voicetrack a lot less than the previous operators did. Only one station there is now voicetracked at all between 6 AM and midnight when the previous operator was live in drive only and voicetracked completely after dark at all but one station. However, they did it at the expense of their part-timers and by working their full-timers a lot more. The previous operators had all of their full-time on-air talent working 5 day work weeks and minimum 8 hour days. Cumulus has them working 6 day work weeks, and I understand the minimum 8 hour days Monday thru Friday are still in effect. Also, all of the stations used to have at least three part-timers, some had four. Now, each has zero or one.

How about all Spanish sports talk? It would tie in with the Cowboys and tap into an unserved portion of the market.

Rex, it doesn't do much good for you to delete your messages when there's already a reply that quotes the whole thing... You might as well leave your messages there! :)

Cheap

Advertising for an On-Air PD? That does not sound promising for a market 5 station.

Well, you don't expect any "govt" reports to tell you how many undocumented spanish speakers are moving (migrating) into the N. Texas area each month.....

But it's considerable.... and they do need Radio to support their market share....

But "someone" has a pretty good idea of how many Spanish speakers are here....
ergo the vast number of stations now supporting this ever growing number...

It's not personal..... It's strictly BUSINESS ! ! ! !
