Bonneville Cuts

Some talk stations seem to be shifting to syndicated morning shows in addition to syndicated programming throughout the rest of the day. iHeart has a guy named Michael DelGiorno they’ve been rolling out to a handful of talk stations in morning drive such as KFYI Phoenix and WLAC Nashville. I’m surprised it’s taken this long considering local shows aren’t cheap to produce and you can only run so many gold and silver, Camp LeJune, and retirement planning ads to cover the costs.

Michael DelGiorno is based at WLAC Nashville. He had been on the Cumulus talk station in Nashville, WWTN. He's now getting syndicated on KEX Portland and KFYI Phoenix, instead of repeating several hours of "Coast to Coast AM with George Noory" in the hours before dawn. And he's also on KTOK Oklahoma City and KAKC Tulsa.

So it seems several of iHeart's talk stations are running DelGiorno in morning drive in the East and to eliminate repeated hours of C2C in the West. I'd imagine the more successful iHeart talk stations in the East will still have their own local wake-up show. But in markets where the iHeart station doesn't have such wonderful ratings, some local hosts are getting replaced with DelGiorno.

(By the way, one iHeart talk station each night runs four hours of C2C live and four hours of it repeated. KFBX Fairbanks is in the Alaska Time Zone so it starts at 9 p.m. local time and ends eight hours later at 5 a.m.)
