Bonneville Has Finally Sold 860 AM

I wonder if Sierra H. wants to part with one of their FMs? Sure they're rimshots with 75 percent coverage of the Phoenix Metro, but doesn't 88.3 has some problem areas in the east valley too?

Well, since they're not going to swap for a non-comm frequency and they're not going to swap for an AM, there really isn't any compelling reason for Sierra H to want anything to do with this.

I see the potential for a swap, but man, is it far fetched. We're talking weirder than Buckeye. The farmworkers could do a 3 way transaction with Family Radio and EMF where Family ends up on 860, K-Love ends up on 88.3, and KNAI ends up on 105.5. That's more like fantasy baseball than could ever be a real deal, though. Some kind of translator play is more likely.

Family Radio to 8~Sixty, si

EMF to 88~Three, si, si

CCF to 105~Five, ¡NO!

Even though KLVA could revert to Commercial status, its metro Phoenix coverage sucks more than driving a Gremlin. But the Nurse and I like your fantasy frequency game!

EMF's doing something... There are a bunch of applications and a proposed COL change to Avondale for KLVK and to Maricopa for KLVA. The KPNG COL is *also* changing, for some reason.

More notably they want to move KLVA to Sierra Estrella. KLVK isn't moving.

An improvement in 105.5's metro coverage could open it up to a sale to FERN, where CCF then vaporizes KNAI (allowing KPHF to go full-time) and EMF simply covers the market with its other transmitters. Alternatively, the 24-hour 88.3 could go to EMF and Family Radio takes 860.

It's like Press Your Luck...who's going to hit the Whammy?

Dropping to 800 watts, but a mountain top stick. Projected population served is 50% more than the folks (and cows) they cover in Maricopa.

The Fam moving to 8~Sixty gives them 24 hour service, versus shared time with KNAI. Makes sense. If CCF wants a commercial frequency, then a deal with EMF is an option. But 88~Three still has better coverage than an Avondale licensed 105~Five.

Maybe...but students at the Buckeye Media Hut view it as more like Whack A Mole*.

* not to be confused with mole sauce, that fiery concoction of chocolate and hot chiles.
