BONNEVILLE SELLING ITS SEATTLE STATIONS?

That possibility was raised this this morning by Tom Taylor (http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter/register.php). He says with the death of Mormon Church leader Gordon Hinckey, some feel the new leader should spin off the radio properties outside of Salt Lake City.

Taylor asks an interesting question, however - would CURRENT management want to buy those stations?

Didn't they just barely buy KIRO/KTTH/KBSG a little over a year ago?

To cop out this early just doesn't make any sense.......

I second that,

It make no seince at all, why buy a group of major market radio stations, run them 1 year, then sell them without leaps of growth in profit?

Just a though...

However, time will tell

They didnt buy them.. those stations were part of the Entercom trade for the San Fran stations!

Maybe they ARE selling. It's Black Wednesday at KIRO...

David Goldstein - GONE
Bryan Stybe - AXED
Dustin Hornby - BUH-BYE

....more to go.....

Stations usually start laying people off and improving the "bottom line" to interested buyers.

All media companies are being forced to downsize due to poor 4th quarter performance and a very dismal 1st quarter and revised annual projections. Clear Channel has cut all marketing, promotion, travel and has put a freeze on staff and salaries. Infinity will follow suit in a couple of weeks. Bonneville had a terrible fourth quarter as well and first quarter is off projection so they are making cuts. Even smaller private companies like Sandusky and Fisher will have to freeze or adjust in the coming months. With that in mind, this is not a good time to sell and Bonneville will not sell off a bad year. Clear Channel may lose their deal as well.

Cutbacks are part of life when business is bad. Selling low is not an option for Bonneville, a smart company in my experience consulting them in the past

Frank Shires- Gone

All i can say is im glad Bryan Styble is gone,
Did anyone ever tell him NOT to breathe into the mic?

Oh well, doesnt matter anymore ;D

Re: CITADEL COULD BUY KIRO AND KTTH, JENNINGS COULD BRING BACK WHAT USED TO WORK

Maybe Citadel will buy KIRO / KTTH. Then, Brian Jennings, Citadel's VP of N/T, could come back, and hire back all the great talent (syndicated and local) that he managed on KING 1090 and KVI 570, with huge ratings.

Jennings arguably understands the market better than any of the current Seattle N/T PD's. He' also understands how to aggressively promote N/T hosts. There's no question that Jennings was the most successful Seattle PD in the "modern Rushed era" of talk radio (i.e. since 1990). A lot of us have learned from his success, even if we disagree with him politically.
