Bonnie hunt show in Philly

WPSG 57 airs the Bonnie Hunt show at 2 AM Tuesdays-Saturdays. I would like to know will the station move the show to another station or move it to another time slot and what about Trivial Pursuit and Family Feud which air at 4-5 AM on WTXF on Tuesdays-Saturdays, should FOX 29 move those 2 shows to another station or move them to a different time slot?

Huh? Julius, where do you come up with these ideas? First of all, even on the same station, there are only so many slots. Some of them are overnight. Some shows simply get buried in some markets in lesser-viewed hours. It's life.

Since Fox only owns one station, where, praytell, could Fox move the game show block? If they don't want them when renewal time comes, they can not pick them up and if someone else does, they'll move. Simple as that. But since Feud didn't set the world on fire in daytime last year on CBS 3, overnights is probably the best case scenario.

As for Hunt, CBS could move it to channel 3, but with The Doctors doing well, and CBS content with the magazine block at 9 am, there are no other slots. Again, simple scenario. As for the rest of CW 57's schedule, if nothing is faltering badly, there's no reason to move the show.

Somebody has to be in the graveyard.

Well, fox29 will soon have an open spot for the game shows now that Mike and Juliet has been canceled. Maybe they can pick up Bonnie from philly 57?

Try a Tivo.

Bonnie Hunt Show is on a lot of NBC-owned stations like WNBC, KNBC, WRC, etc. so NBC/WCAU was probably offered it as well first but passed.

Over at 10, they have the 10! show at 11, Deal or Deal at noon, Martha at 2, Ellen at 3, and 4-6 is tied with news. The only open time on Ch.10 is at 12:30pm, but its only for half an hour. If WCAU canceled 10!, they possibly could air her at 11am, but she'd probably suffer against being at the same time as The View anyways...So it would have been a lose lose, as an hour of local programming would be canceled as well, and its better for 10 to be airing a lot of local programming. And for as noon, WCAU probably thought Deal or Deal would do better.

CW 57, My 17 and Fox 29 have their schedules set in a certain way, and CW 57's morning schedule is mainly court room blocks, and My17 is mainly trashy talk show blocks.

CBS3 has a ton of shows it got first (The Doctors, Dr.Phil, maybe even Dr.Oz), they could have even gotten Rachael Ray, but she seems doing ok on WABC and WPVI.

Another alternative for Bonnie Hunt is to get cleared on WFMZ 69, and/or WMGM 40, much like how shows get cleared on WLNY 55 in the New York market, this to supplement the big city viewing. They have newscasts and a more diverse daytime lineup, compared to stations like WPHL that are mainly running blocks of one type of programming.

If Bonnie Hunt shows strong numbers in New York, LA, and other markets, then its very likely NBC/WCAU would re-evaluate the situation.

I'd doubt she move to WTXF, as Fox would likely schedule something for all its stations to replace Mike&Juliet.

Considering Fox seemed pleased with the Wendy William trial on some O&Os, it wouldn't shock me to see that be bought for the group as the replacement for many who carry Mike & Juliet. Just a hunch. (Whether it's a direct time period swap or not is a different story.)

The 10 show would be little of a loss. Yes, it's local, and kudos to someone for trying something not done since AM Philadelphia (AM Live on the other hand...well, that was putrid garbage). But now I see why local shows of that type are close to extinct--if that's what passes for quality, you might as well buy a syndicated hour.

Whether it's Bonnie or some other show, I wouldn't be surprised to see something else added to the NBC 10 schedule come fall...and for 10 to be deep sixed.

Regarding 10!, NBC/WCAU could pre-empt the last hour of Today, move 10! back to 10am, but I'm not sure if the NBC execs would go for that. Then again, WJZ 13 CBS owned in Baltimore for years had the carte blanche to pre-empt Early Show (first hour) and that was at 7am (a bigger deal).

10! would probably do better at its original time slot, and compete better against Rachael Ray and Guiding Light, over The View and Price is Right. In general, 11a is a tougher slot for WCAU.

Another thought:

Bonnie stays on WPSG 57, and moves to 9am, competes against Regis & Kelly, and Today.
Dr.Phil second runs at 10am, assuming the 10pm run is replaced by a newscast from CBS3.
700 Club moved to 11am.

If possible, maybe Viacom and Tribune could swap 17 and 57, with Viacom paying Tribune a small amount---Tribune is bankrupt anyways and could use the money. While its not a major difference between
17 and 57, if the WPSG product moved to 17 it'd give CBS/KYW a slight edge with the duopoly situation as 17
has better channel positioning (it's better being in between 10 and 29, than up in the higher numbers on cable, sat, OTA scans, etc.)

and even if the CW thing doesn't work out, Viacom would have a strong #5 station in the market, and could carry some Phillies games, etc., rather than 17 and 57 BOTH being marginalized.

If you’re talking about literally moving all of the content (daytime, network affiliation, et al), it has the potential for immense viewer confusion (at least with the 3-10 swap, the local news and syndie fare stayed put). On the flip side, the channel positioning benefit can be overrated, as cable lineups vary, and when you factor in folks using the HD channel lineups, that’s even more true. For example, all of my broadcast HD channels come in a row—17 and 57 are adjacent to each other. Flip flopping them would bring little if any upside and a chance for a greater downside. Not a good business decision.
