Boomer and Simms out at CBS NFL Today.

There are big changes ahead for CBS’ NFL studio show, The NFL Today. Long-time analysts Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms are both exiting, and Matt Ryan is moving from game analyst work to the studio. Fellow analysts Bill Cowher and Nate Burleson will remain, as will host James Brown, and analyst JJ Watt (who will continue to work a part-time schedule). CBS announced those changes Monday:

The old guys have got to go.

When does Fox do the same with their studio group?

The average NFL viewer is over 50. What's wrong with studio hosts in their 60s?
Nothing, unless they're boring. Like Boomer and Phil. The Fox hosts may be getting on in years, but they have yet to be boring.

“Nate Burleson will remain”

Although there was a little bit of speculation that CBS’s NFL moves would include removing him also, as long as he is on CBS Mornings I can’t imagine him leaving the NFL coverage unless he wants to.
