I just wanted to straighten out someone who has apparently been on a mission to tear Boomer down on this site, especially where Lake 102 is concerned. I worked up at The Lake when he was there and he was the best thing to happen to that station. That format that he put together with deeper cuts and more obscure hits would've been huge if management didn't bail on it after one day ... let me repeat that ... ONE DAY ... and all because they got one complaint ... let me repeat that too ... ONE COMPLAINT ... and that from an old boy member of the Lake Association who was so old she knew Jesus personally. We were getting overwhelming positive response from that format. It was so fun to execute and that showed up in our delivery, and people responded to it. Not to mention that Boomer was responsible for putting together that air staff that included himself, Bob Bailey, AJ Cannon, and John Curran (movie actor extraordinaire). So to take shots at Boom is wrong ... a karma malfeasance if you will. Oh, and he sounds great on True Oldies even though he is a schmuck with ears.

I like Boomer,he is a nice guy, atrue radio professional. I enjoyed listening to him on Eagle,he came to Eagle after 102 let him go. AJ Cannon was there before he went to Kicks.

I am sure that Boomer is a good person. However, I was right before about the Jan. 2000 format change on WLKQ-FM Oldies Lake 102! The station switched to a very obsure album rock format on Jan. 1 2000. Lake 102 had very loyal listners and the "largest Oldies library in the Southeast". many listerners DID compain and 7-10 days later, station owner Jackie Joseph changed the format back to Oldies and got rid of Boomer. Actually, somewhere in my files, I have an e-mail from Jackie Joseph in which we were discussing all of this. Boomer came to the station in mid 1999, messed with the format and got rid of great WLKQ d.j.`s like Tom Ferrone, Steve Nichols and Valrire Anderson. It was the beginning of the end of WLKQ. They went back to Oldies after getting rid of Boomer, but WLKQ was never the same again. Yes, I am sure that he is a nice guy, but he really screwed up WLKQ and this is a fact!
