I like the bold humor...in general.....interesting debut.....surprised to see Ed Asner.....and Regina king voicing the two young boys....

Animation is nice...but this was a pilot...im waiting for two weeks to see what they can really do out of the gate....MaGruder can stay controversial and topical in his strip.....very curious to see what he can do down the road with the show...

John witherspoon is perfect for GranDAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Regina King as an actress, but I'm thinking they should've gone with someone else to do the voices of Riley and Huey. Given their usual subject matter, it wouldn't have been a huge stretch to give them 'adult' male voices, even as kids.

That said, I'm hoping for the show to get better. The pilot was pretty rough, but promising.
______________

I was really impressed with it. I was a little afraid that the humor of the comic wouldn't translate well, but I think it worked. Good characters, and I like that Macgruder skewers pretty much everyone. I was also a big fan of the animation style.

With Chappelle's Show gone, I think Boondocks is going to become the best place for provocative racial humor on TV.

Been a extreme fan of the comic strip since its debut in The Source in 98 (97?).

So to the cartoon...

They made Grandad fatter than in the comic strip. They made Uncle Ruckus a bit more extreme than I thought. I had a tough time with the voices of the kids since I always thought they might have real voices instead of "cartoon" style voices. I always thought of Grandad's voice to be one of Fred Sanford rather than Witherspoon.

But....... as time went on and I rewatched the first episode each night after coming home from work, sometimes twice per night, it's already grown on me and I can accept most of those issues now.

I think it's excellent. Funny to see some of the comic strips come to life.. such as the 2nd episode with Grandad and Rukus at the chess table.

I really hope that future episodes WILL eventually include the other characters, Jazmine and Cesar.

BTW, there are no mountains in the Chicago area...anyone catch that?
