Boortz makes on-air admission

Yesterday while listening to Boortz, he casually mentioned to Belinda that he returned to work this week to find, "...a couple of affiliates have cancelled..". He did not say how many, other than a 'couple', but did say, one affiliate is in his new hometown of Naples.

I find it interesting, but not surprising, as I had thought that HC would never be able to carry the syndication like the 'Talkmaster' himself ::)

I don't think it has anything to do with Herman Cain per se because some of his affiliates started dropping his show as soon as he announced his retirement. That was before Herman had been officially named as his successor.

You are correct, and in all fairness to HC, I do like the guy, he is just not radio quality. Also, it would be hard for anyone to fill the shoes, or mic, of the 'Talkmaster'

I wish they could talk Boortz into cutting back to 2 or 3 hours a day instead of retiring. Until recently he was doing 4.5 hours a day on WSB, from 8:30-1pm. He will be missed, and I am not sure Herman Cain will maintain his audience.

He has been cut back to 3hrs, 9A-12P, sometime ago...he has been at this 40years, has his own fleet (2) of planes, a 250K Winnebago, book royalties pouring in....I'd retire too.

;)

As for book royalties, he says he doesn't keep a dime. It all goes to his wife's charity, The Donna Boortz Foundation.

He cut back to three hours a day because WSB picked up rush Limbaugh after GST's demise,or as Boortz calls it the exwife.

I believe he cut back way before Rush came on....but the point is mute at this point. HC will never carry the audience that Boortz had, 3hrs or 4hrs, or even the 2hrs that most affiliates have been doing for years.

;)

I wonder if Glenn Beck's pushing his show in a more libertarian direction is an attempt to fill the impending void coming from Boortz's retirement, and I wonder if he may go after some of Boortz's affiliates.
