Boot Camp for News12 Talking Heads?

So here I am on a quiet Saturday morning hoping that 12News can live up to its brand name and a talking head named Hailey Frances blows the pronunciation of Gila Bend - and she is a Snottsdale native (according to her bio).

I'm thinking the Buckeye Boyz might have a potential new gig at the Media Hut. Teaching newbies how to pronounce our local cities, mountains and points of interest.

It seems highly unlikely that Hailey would have blown this. I've worked with her at ASU a few years back. She should know all of this...

Likewise, after reading her bio I would have thought the same. But I heard it with my own ears. It was during the story of Prince Harry coming here for military training.

Darn, I missed it! I guess she's human like everyone else and made a mistake. That would probably be why she's the weekend morning anchor.

I was in Tucson, enjoying their weather map of SOUTHERN Arizona. As was mentioned in another thread, Tucson ignores Northern Arizona on its weather maps.

Unlike the citizens of Central Arizona who frequently travel to the north of the state, such is not the case with residents of Tucson. And, since Tucson has the only TV stations in the south and eastern part of Arizona (excepting only Yuma) the natural interest of those residents would be the southern counties of the state.

I was just joking! Someone had pointed this out in another thread and thought that it was unusual, since Phoenix stations show the whole state.

Having been raised in Tucson (albeit some time ago) I can assure you it is no joke to the inhabitants of the Old Pueblo. They take their culture and history very seriously and it bleeds over into an intense dislike for anything north of Picacho Peak. I've known Tucsonians who, when driving to the Valley, will stop for gas in Casa Grande so as not to have to buy gas in Maricopa County.

There was almost a revolution down there in the late 50's when the name of the tallest building in Tucson was "Phoenix Title" (incidentally the then-home of KTKT).
